Unit 45 Elk hard hunt

Hunted Unit 45 rifle this year with a friend. Burned 14 points. Heard good reports from past years. Saw one broke 6 point and raghorns. Very disappointed in the hunt. Not many elk, high, low, or mid range. Same report from other local hunters. Some general elk units were better. Wondering if they had higher winter kill?

It is all relative, but no the area did not experience unusually high winter mortality for elk... I will agree that general units are hard to beat in WY... Just because something goes limited it does not mean it gets any better...

Not much for elk winter kill. Elk move down low for winter, don't have predators like you do other elk areas around here. Bighorns isn't known to produce monster bulls. I believe the unit is just over talked. Most people just enjoy the bighorns cause most can road hunt for an easy hunt. Most like to bowhunt cause can usaully get the elk to talk.
