Unit 52 Cow Elk Hunt

Some friends of mine applied for and drew the Unit 52 rifle cow hunt which is coming up pretty quick. They were working with a guide that has taken another elk hunt during that period - unfortunate. Most of the guides are now full during this time. They are moderately capable hunters and I think if they can get in the right area they can get an elk. They are good guys and just looking to have a good time hunting.

Is anyone willing to provide advice on what elevation to hunt, pitfalls of this hunt, areas to look at, tactics, weather, etc. I can not help them in this unit at all.

Head in thru San Antonio mt. and make a left at the corrals; this will take you to the foothills of Broke off mts. Hunt the foothills. Its preety productive.
