I have never hunted this area.I am only hunting it to help out a friend who took up hunting last year at age 47.For years I tried to convince him to hunt,and last year friends of his at his job finally closed the deal for him.This will be his 2nd season after not killing last year.Any info. on this area will be helpful as I am going to be hunting with him this year and would like to see him get his first animal. thanks...

63 third is a tough hunt for elk. By the time third season rolls around most of the elk are down on private or on the State Park(Black Canyon). Some elk will still be high but the majority will be where they aren't huntable. The area where you can catch them sometimes is on the flats east of Green Mt and the Poison Springs area.
