Unit 76 Sept 22 pics

Rut is going full blast now. Sat AM got 5-10000 bugles
in basin 5. Sun AM went to basin4 much fewer bulls and
500-1000 bugles. Big herds are now 10-50 in harems.
Getting alot of clouds and drizzle now but no snow.
Some pics are up at 13000 ft. Basin 5 had 4 bulls 300-330.
2 of them stayed up high all day and did not go to trees.
They are keeping their harems away from other bulls. Have
still not seen any fights or mounting of cows. Aspens getting
good color now. Sat AM I was going over a small rise toward
a load of bugles when I saw the tips of antlers coming my
way at 10 yards. Hit the ground and grapped Rocket dog and
they, 2 5s, a6 and 2 cows came over the rise at 3 yards
and looked down at me. I looked up at 1 5pt and he looked down
at me. Wind was great so they had not a clue, but didnt
want to step over me and turned around and walked away.

what a graet way to start my week great pictures. went out in unit 61 this past weekend tons of bugles and elk took some good video.my son had a blast

Rain is coming if the forecast is correct. Supposed to start on Saturday and stay around for the week according to Weather.com. They are not always right, but they are posting 30% - 40% chance of rain every day starting Saturday.

Keep your feet and Rocketdog dry.

Oh yea, I enjoy your pic's as well. Your posts are like candy (or beer) to most of us, we can't get enough.
