Utah Bighorn Hunter-Opportunity Allotment

Utah has issued 51 bighorn permits (15 RMB/36 DB), with only 3 (about 6%) going to non-residents. Of these 3, 1 was drawn by an Arizona hunter, while another was drawn from Nevada.

Don't these guys from Arizona and Nevada know that they should only "hunt in their own d*** states"?

A continuation of a disappointing trend.

HornedToad,

Thanks for an insightful and fact filled post.

WOW a total of 6% (actually 0.058823529%) of al the sheep tags in Utah went to nonresidents that is CRAZY! I would be pisssed as well NOT!

Next year I'll be sure to have at least 25 new nonresident friends apply just to try to up the percentages of Nonresdents drawing.

SFW took 5% of the draw tags for their fundraiser, 2.5% of the total from resident, 2.5% from nonresident. Now nonresidents get 7.5%. Basically, SFW took one of the three nonresident sheep tags, or 22.3% of the nonresident tags. You can not round numbers exactly when they are so small.

Let's look at afew other states since we are complaining. Nevada elk Non-res 5%, and expensive to buy license, Oregon 3%, Wyoming,Idaho,Arizona,Montana, up to 10%. In reality it is closer to 5% actual draw. Non-res get the short end of the stick about everywhere. At least non-res don't need to buy an expensive license just to apply like, Nevada, Idaho, Arizona, and expensive points in Wyoming. Good luck to all non-res.

In 2005 Nevada actually gave over 13% of the antlered elk tags to non residents, and many of the antlerless tags were under subscribed (not many people pay that much $$ for a cow tag).
