Thanks for the update, it is looking like I will be holding a limited entry elk tag next year, unless someboy decides to jump in with more points. Question on the draw. Does half of the tags go to people with the most points ?

In Utah 50% of the tags (rounded down) are reserved for the max point holders. The remaining 50% go to anyone at any point level. In Wyoming 75% go to the top point levels and the remainder to anyone - but points are not considered in Wyomings random draw.

You're absolutely right. I need to keep an eye on the creep.

"IF" no one jumps around too much my son will be in the max pool in 2 years (in one of the units. 3 yrs in a couple others). But as we know, anything can happen since there are several people, with more points in other units, who could jump over in front of him.

Same goes for my wife on her goat apps.

The next 2-5 years should be more exciting anyway.

I didn't realize that point don't help in drawing a random tag in Wyo. I guess that's why they call it random. haha.

I wondered how my buddy drew sheep his 2nd year!!!! Now I know.
