LAST EDITED ON Jan-25-10 AT 12:33PM (MST)[p]I was trying to find harvest success rates by hunt type and couldn't find it on their website. Does anyone know if these are published anywhere.

Thanks

If you win a tag there you will kill an elk if you do not have to high of standards. 100% opportunity.

I agree with 100% opportunity to kill a nice bull but in the toilet odds of winning the raffle draw if you are a nonres but soembody has to win. Don't even worry about the succes rates just figure out how much you want to spend on tickets! nwhunter

Northwesthunter's reply is dead on! If you do not get a chance at a mature bull you are hunting with your eyes closed. As far as the odds go the best units in the state have the same or better odds and a better chance at a monster bull IMO!

How does it work exactly, do the people who buy more chances have better odds or does a person who buys one chance have just as good of odds

It is like a lottery. The more you buy, the better chance you have.
It is also like a lottery that the odds are bad.

No, basically, all the tickets are put in a hat and winners are drawn. You can win with one ticket, but, your odds are better the more you buy.

And if you are a nonres most of the bull hunts only have one tag for self guided and one for a guided nonres so it really is a crap shoot. The first year I heard of the VC I bought one ticket on a whim and got drawn for a bow hunt. Since then I have spent a few hundred every year and zippo. Somebody has to win but probably won't be me again.nwhunter
