Were you part of the problem we have now?

Just curious, who will admit that by them killing does they have been a large part of the bad situation we're in now??
I know i know they issued the tags you only killed them. RIGHT
Hear the same stories about cow elk now as I did back in the days of the deer slaughter. There's plenty of them, its all we see, their over populated, gotta thin them out to help the bucks/bulls, i only want the meat not antlers, its better tasting, LIST GOES ON AND ON..
So i want to hear your thoughts/excuses, was killing thousands sometimes tens of thousands of does a year a huge factor in this problem? And are we headed in the same direction with our elk herds?

The reason we don't kill hens is so we will have babies in the spring. The ONLY reason to kill does is to control growth of herds. Thats why it is done with whitetails back east. Whitetail populations in a lot of places have exceded the carrying capacity. Mule deer are far from it, and killing any doe, or cow elk, after the rut is simply killing two animals. The only reason to do it is to reduce the herd numbers. There is no other reason to do so!

When they came for the road hunters I was not one so I said nothing. When they came for the oppurtunists I was not one so I said nothing. When they came for the public land hunters I was not one so I said nothing. When they came for me there was no one left to say anything!

Ok, I will answer. Elk, yeah I have shot some cows on private land which were pounding hay fields. The owner didn't mind 50 elk, but having over 200 on his fields every day was wearing his patience. I have never shot a doe. Now here are a few questions for you=

How many deer died in the winters of 1983 and 1992?

Would those doe killed prior to those winters have survived through those winters?

I have to agree with 2_point here, I have a nice place to hunt cow elk and can draw a cow tag every year. Same problem as 2_point had, cow elk breaking down the fences to get into the hay barn, 20 or 30 elk is ok, but when you are having 100-200 you have a problem. land owner came begging us to come remove a few when I was out hunting deer, didnt have a tag that year but have draw it every year since.

I hunt for meat...that may go against the Monster Muley's logo...but they taste alot better than rut charged stinky Bull, or Smelly antelope.

If we don't control the population nature will. How much winter range did the house you live in cost the deer/elk/pheasant or sage grouse?
