what to do with cape?

New to taxidermy and have only mounted a few deer. While drying the cape from my buck this year something more than likely one of my dogs chewed off about 3-4 inches of one ear. So my question is what to do, I could throw it away and try and get another but would rather somehow use this one. I thought about either sewing it up and using it as is maybe pinning ears back or using a liner as I normally bondo my ears and trying to airbrush it to look like an ear again. Any thoughts?

some bucks have slits in their ear or part of the end missing from battle wounds. just an idea but u could just make it look like a good battle scar.

Yes, you can replace the ear, but make sure the hair matches. Even deer from the same area will have subtle differences in color, length and thickness.
