Whatcha' think this one scored at?

This buck had pretty good tines, but not much width. What do you all think he ended up scoring? Is he an opening morning taker for anyone? Is the lack of width a turn off?

I'm getting antsy to get after it in the high country!!!

Even though he has decent fork depth, he isn't real wide and has marginal brow tines.

I estimate him to be at 178"

However, I would be happy with him on my wall.

I'm not seeing it I guess. That buck is average mass, weak inside spread which will hurt him. Overall a nice buck no doubt, but I would say 174"

Well Brian you have gotten guesses from mid 170s to 190. That's a 15 inch difference. Are you going to tell us what the actual gross score is?

I would take a guess then ground check him to verify on day 2. Definitely not a day one ground check buck.

Lack of width doesnt bother me nor did it effect the score by much imo.

I never put a tape on him. I guessed him to finish at about 185ish.

The buck was killed by Dave Welch and after seeing my video, he realized it was the same buck and sent photos.
He scored the buck a 191-7/8 gross. The inside spread was a hair better than 20-inches. 186-2/8 net if anyone cares about that.

He finished better than I would've thought, or maybe I would've been hunting him.

Wow!
He put on another inch or so on each tine after the video.
That puts the one of us that guessed 184 right on the money.
That buck has some super sharp pointed tines. I would name him
(Pitchfork)

Seeing the field photos, I'd guess it's a 180" class buck. Never would I guess that to be a 190" buck.
It does have some "WOW" factor but for me, it doesn't have that "HOLY CHIT" factor that a typical 190" buck should have.
This is a good reason why score can be over rated.
With that said, he would be a no brainer on a general season unit and probably on the hit list on several LEs.

Yeah, he doesn't have so much of the WOW factor because of his narrow spread but has a bunch of it in other areas. Those main beams are deceptively long and hard to judge because of how much they curl back in toward one another. A lot of score right there that can make up for lack of width twice over. That was the first thing caught my eye on the video was the long mains.
