Personally I thought we'd have more wolves down by now. I assumed the wolves would wise by next year, but I thought there would be no problem filling the quota this season. What are your thoughts? Will we make 220?

NO WAY! I heard some where that alaska only shoots about 200 wolves per year. When deer and elk hunting is over I am thinking that the wolf hunting will be over too. Ron

i dont think we will hit the quota but i bet we get close. had a chance at a pack of them a week before season opened over in 32a. they just laid downed and watched us from a 100yards out without a care in the world. Had another pack on top of us last weekend for the deer opener but couldn't close the deal. i dont know about you guys but i'll be out this winter calling them just like i do coyote's!

I would guess there wont be 150 killed let alone 200+... What are we at right now ???

I'd bet we get close as some units with lots of wolves and good access (and many deer/elk hunters) will fill their quota and hunting in those units will stop. It will be hard to kill 5 wolves south of I-84 in the S.Hills and Owyhees. That said, I doubt we'll get to the full 220. The McCall zone is 2/3 finished in just a couple of weeks. What surpises me is that only 1 has been documented in the Salmon area.

I think 150-180 is a reality--especially as the snow hits and these critters follow their prey to lower ground.

When you get the chance, shoot straight......

i think its going to be real close, withing 1 or 2 for each zone, except south of I84. once the animals migrate in late november and really group up low they are going to get hit hard. Just my opinion and i hope im right!

If anyone else is like me, im focused on deer/elk right now. When those seasons end I will put all my effort into wolves. Oops I mean "a" wolf.
