BOUGHT A NEW 2 MAN 115 POUND TREE STAND ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO. 2 WEEKS AGO I PACKED IT IN ABOUT 2 MILES AND SET IT UP COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS MISSING A BRACE FROM THE LADDER TO THE PLAT FORM. CALLED CABELAS TODAY THEY WON'T SHIP OUT ANY PARTS WITHOUT RETURNING THE STAND. KIND OF MAKES ME MAD THAT I SPENT 450.00 ON THIS STAND AND THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING. MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE OPENED THE PACKAGE BEFORE PACKING IT IN. HOPE IT DOES NOT FALL DOWN. ANYONE ELSE HAD PROBLEMS ON SHIPMENTS?

Just order another one. When you get it remove the part(s) you need and have them issue a pickup to return it. You'll get dingged with some shipping charges, but maybe able to talk them out of it due to missing parts...

I'm lucky enough to be able to buy from a retail store rather than through the catalog...Cabela's is generally really good about returns, but I do understand their desire to have the original product returned. The bigger question for me is this...YOU PACKED A 115 LB. STAND 2 MILES!!! You're more of a man than me!!!

You know that doesn't come off as sounding real nice my friend...

"MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE OPENED THE PACKAGE BEFORE PACKING IT IN."

Exactly!

Cabelas will make it right on their end, but you have to cooperate on yours.

I'm calling BullChit on that, Cabelas sold me some stuff online(discount item, clearance items) took my CC and everything, 2 weeks later Called and told me that they had sold out of the items that I had bought and but would be more then happy to send me their new item at twice the price. I said no just give me what I ordered and paid for, They never did so now I shop at Braaspro or Sportmans.

Ive had the same thing happen on the discounted items, Ordered it and then had them email me that it was no longer available, They are a good store, In this case it probably wasnt Cabelas fault, They probably mis-packed it at the manufacture try and get ahold of who ever built the tree stand and tell them what happened maybe they will ship you out the brace you need. Ive done this and it seems to work just cut out the middle man so to speak.

thats funny...2 miles though snow and barefoot also!!BET YOU WON'T DO THAT AGAIN....With out a preassemble job....
cabelas is the best...were you a prick on the phone?

A couple of years ago I ordered some stuff from Cabelas and there were an extra pair of boots in the package I was not charged for. I called their customer service and advised them of the situation asking for a return label to send the boots back. The women I spoke to informed me I would have to pay to send the boots back as they could not send a UPS label to me for free shipping "as return shipping charges are the customer's responsibility". I finally gave up and kept the boots. Overall they are a well run company but sometimes you just talk with somebody who is brain dead.

Thank you Chad most people would have taken a atv. Guess I could have thrown it in back of my P. Ranger and made it look like I drove a truck in! I never thought of that.

The snakeoil has spoken and all this time I thought you were a mute??? That sucks about your stand David.... Obviously a frusterating situation that only guys like yourself (that pack in ON FOOT) could understand. If Cabela's wont remedy the problem right away I'd call the manufacturer direct and see if they will hot foot the bracket to you. I've come to find with most hunting gear and other outdoor gear manufacturers they understand the concept of word of mouth advertising; as competetive as their market is they are usually willing to go over and beyond to make their customers happy. Just a thought!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-01-08 AT 01:15PM (MST)[p]Well I just called the company with the same name as my stand and the stand is actualy a cabelas brand stand. Cabelas came out with the name of the stand the same time as this archery company opened. He told me they have had numerous calls regarding this stand from people trying to go around cabelas for problems the same as I tried. I guess I will be building my own parts that I already purchased. I hear a saying from a guy "you always get_____________ at the drive thru". Fill in the blank!

"I'm calling BullChit on that"

Call it what you want, but I sure as heck wouldn't lug something that heavy, that far without knowing whether all the parts were there. How is Cabela's fault anyway, did they not offer to refund your payment if you weren't satisfied? Did they not offer you credit for something else?

I don't know if this would work in your case, but I had a similar problem from a different company (I've never had any problems with Cabellas). I called Visa (the credit card I used for the purchase) and told them about the problem and the run-around I was getting from the company. The took my "dispute" over the phone and said they would investigate it and would do a "charge back" if the company didn't resolve the problem to my satisfaction. The missing part was Fed-Ex'd within a couple days.

I've been buying from Cabela's for over 20 years. Any issue I have ever had, their fault, my fault, doesn't matter, they have made things right, every time. Eventhough we have one of their stores 80 miles south of here in Reno we still make most of our purchases via the internet. A partner of mine had a pair of the Mountain Hunters. After over two years of hard use the Gore-Tex bootie in one of the boots failed. He called to see if they could repair the liner. Cabela's customer service had him ship the boots to them. Acouple of weeks later a package from Cabela's arrived. When he opened the package he was surprised to find a new pair of boots. He was honest with them when he made the call in regard to the miles that had been put on the boots and informed them he was not disapointed with their quality. He just liked them so much he wanted to know if they could fix them. Another partner of mine snapped a few inches off the tip of one of Cabela's Fly rods by shutting a camper door on it. Guess what? That's right, they sent him a new one eventhough he explained that it was his fault. They have my business!

Cabela's has a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Last year I ordered some new camo for a caribou hunt, along with a bunch of other stuff. I got everything except the camo which was backordered. I kept watching my backorder status and was getting nervous about having my new camo in time, since the anticipated ship date was the day before we were leaving. I ordered another pattern that was in stock. You guessed it, both arrived in time for my hunt. I called customer service, no problem, full refund for all four sets even though the pants were hemmed for my stubby little legs.

I agree Cabela's is a great store, and I am happy we got one here in Utah(3 hours away). I do feel for you Dave, wonder if anybody has ever bought O say a Christmas present they needed to put together, and waited till Christmas eve to do it? I have, and had parts missing. I guess I could have checked it, but I figured that the company I bought it from would be competent. They did make it right after the fact, but still VERY frustrating. Thank goodness I didn't have to pack it 10 miles strait up hill in 2 feet of snow!!! jk

I emailed a link to this thread to Cabelas customer service. Told them they might want to check it out and see if they can get you satisfied. We will see if you or I hear from them about the issue. If they answer me, I will post the answer.

Cabelas packed it thats why it's thier fault. The only thing they offered me was to return the stand back and they would issue me a new one. Thats it. I'm sure I will still order lots of equipment from cabelas whether or not I get a replacement part from them. Just frustrates me.

Here are some pics I took yesterday of the missing part. It would be from the ladder back up to the platform just like the other side.

Go to a machine shop with the bolt hole centers. They'll have a piece of strap in the trash bin. You'll be on your way in 10 minutes.

No big deal!! For temporary use, make your own brace. Could use a 2-4" branch and wire it on. May not look great but would work. Next time you are in town, or the off season, can make your own metal brace for a more permanent solution..

Damn...........that is a SERIOUS piece of equipment! Does the porta potty sit on the right or the left?

With the trail camera pics you have sent me MULEY, looks like you will have to sleep in that thing as early as that buck is showing up!
