I have been hunting Region R since 1998. There is a lot of public land, and there are also a lot of hunters. Since it is a general area it receives a lot of pressure from resident hunters. Deer densities are highest in the northern part of the unit. Tom Easterly is the biologist that handles this region for Game and Fish. If you call him he can give you all of the harvest statistics including; densities, buck/doe ratios, etc. The west side of the Cloud Peak Wilderness is also in this unit, as stated previously you must be hunting with an outfitter or accompanied by a resident that has obtained a resident guide permit. Trophy bucks are rare in this unit due to the amount of hunting pressure, but if you are just looking for a fun hunt with the opportunity to see some deer and some gorgeous country than it might be the place.
