Youth Photo Contest

Our good buddy, Jim Hiatt, aka AWHOLELOTTABULL, had a good idea.....to have a YOUTH ONLY (under 18) PHOTO CONTEST here in the forums.

We'll giveaway a prize package that includes "A Whole Lotta Bull" T-shirt, MonsterMuleys.com Cap, and a Never Enough #3 DVD.

We'll do a new contest every couple weeks. Sometimes it will be species and year specific, other times not. Contests will be in the Mule Deer, Elk, or General Hunting forums, so have your kids keep their eyes peeled and post those photos.
(Note: If anyone else would like to donate a prize, email me.)

So, let's see some photos! This contest thread is open to any big game animal that has been harvested in the past 2 years. We're looking for the BEST FIELD PHOTO. Size of trophy, photo quality, size of smile, will all play a part in selecting a winner.

Please, do not post anything to this thread unless it includes a youth photo. This thread is not for general chat. Youth photo posts only with a few details.

We'll pick the winner within 2 weeks.

Thanks to Jim Hiatt and Paul Kendall!!!

Here's another-one, Might not count though ,because I shot it. But the kids saw the whole thing happen just two weeks ago.

Here's a few pictures that idhoundsman asked me to post. He writes, "Here are a couple of pictures of my son (Tyler). He killed a small lion on a quota tag in March of 2007 and was able to draw a limited entry tag the next year and killed a nice tom. He also drew a turkey tag."

My Daughter who is a Senior in HS

She just learned how to shoot her bow a few weeks ago and has been dying to go deer bow hunting. I took her out over Labor day and she almost got a shot at a two point, she pulled back on the buck and then it ran off. I asked if she was nervous and she said her heart was just a pounding away. It was awesome being in the field with her.

My son, who turns 18 in a couple of months, missed getting to go out on opening weekend as he had one more gillnet opening to work on the fishing boat.

We had hunted the last 4 years together in August. Basically me showing him a little bit about spike camping and boning out deer. I've always let him shoot the deer, although last year I could have shot one too.

This year I had to bow out due to a ACL injury and subsequent surgery in May.

Well, my son was motivated and really wanted to get an alpine hunt in before school starts.

He and some friends got rained out on Monday night when they tried to spike camp.

He decided to go out solo yesterday (Wed.) He left the house around 3:30 am (with headlamp) and got to treeline right around 5:00 am. This is a location about 5 miles from where I live.

He called me at work on the cell and said he shot two bucks around 6:00 am (I still don't know WHAT he was thinking!) Got the big one first (3x2) then decided to shoot a forky too.

Not sure when he started packing down from alpine. Sometime between 9 and 10 am. Made it back to the truck at a little after 6 pm.

Don?t think he'll try that one again . . .

Of course this was a double-haul downhill. We put the big black pack on the scale and it was 98#. The smaller bundle (in orange camo bundle) was 2 quarters. It's not really even a hunting-specific pack. It's a Mountainsmith - his HD alpine and mountaineering ski pack. I'm figuring about 70# and 50# of boned out meat between the two bucks.

He did the big pack, then doubled back for the rifle and bundle.

He borrowed my corked Meidls (you can just see the spikes in one pic.) Luckily we have pretty much the same foot size and volume. I think he's sold on that concept. Might have to get his pair corked for his barfday.

It was his first sucessfull solo hunting trip.

I have hunted a lot of years with complete enjoyment even killing a 380 Bull a couple of years back with my bow, Which it will never be top when I was with my son when he harvested his first big game animal with his 243 rifle.
It was the biggest fulfillment I have ever experience hunting with tears of joy for both me and my son on some memories we will never ever forget.

I have always enjoyed this photo. It brings back great memories!

My then 13 year old son mentions this Salmon fishing trip at least once a week. He is now 16 and is an avid outdoorsman.

This is the best thread ever!!! ;-) So many amazing photos of the kids. I KNOW everyone would agree; Being with your child hunting is better than ANY trophy up to that point!!!

Here is my son Erik a couple of years ago with his first elk. Youth hunt in New Mexico.

LOTS of fun!!!

Thanks for the comments guys. The little man will be excited to hear he won. All the pics were great and congrats to all the young hunters on their game and to the parents for getting them outdoors and teaching them the values of hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. What a great site.
Thanks,
Dustin
