Zone X12 in California

Greetings,

I was lucky to get drawn for Zone X12 in California and now am lookng for advice on good areas to concentrate on. Would be very appreciative of any advice or suggestions. I'll be scouting the area later this month but would like to narrow it down some so as to not waste too much time in non productive areas

Jaay, I used to bowhunt X-12 when you could hunt with an AO-1 tag (before it went to a draw). There are big bucks in the sage out by Bodie, and it sets up well for glassing here. Lots of sagegrouse here and also a tiny herd of antelope. Another area is the Sawmill area (west of town). I used to Bowhunt with a backpack along the X-12 / Yosemite border, but I don't think this is a good idea for the rifle hunt. Bucks used to hang out back there in bachelor groups, but by the time of the rifle hunt will be apart from each other and closer to the does, which is in the lower country. Pretty nice tag though.
