thanks kilowatt!

Up until this point in my life I had never killed anything except 4x4s. Thats all I have killed nothing smaller nothing bigger just solid 4 points. Well today would turn out to be a memorable hunt that I will remember forever. I was spotting from my favorite hillsides and spotted this guy about a mile away. I didnt take long to realize he was a shooter because he looked thick and he had some extras(I really wanted a buck with extras). As I made my way towards his bedded area I really didnt think he would sit still because of all the other activity around. Anywho when I crawled over the top of the canyon he was bedded in the bottom. I was in the prone position and one shot from my 120 Grain 7mm bullet did the deed. I also forgot to mention in another post that there were 4 other bucks that jumped out when I shot. I really didnt pay attention to them so I think I got the biggest one lol. He is a 5x7 without eyeguards or a 6x6 with. His eyeguards measure 3 and 3.25 inches. He has bases just a hair over 6.5 inches and is by far the heaviest buck I have killed. He wont score good but oh well, there is always next year I couldnt pass up a buck with this much character. I think I am gonna European mount him but am not sure.

When I was askin god for a 175-180 inch buck this year I was assuming a typical 4 point. LOL...I should have specified a typical.

Nice buck, sounds like you've got those Oregon mulies pegged!

LAST EDITED ON Oct-03-05 AT 04:04PM (MST)[p]Thanks for sharing your story Traks! I'm headed to Heppner myself on Wednesday and staying through the end of the season, I only hope I can find a buck half that nice. We'll be on public land mid-unit and I've never been there before so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Oh yeah, it was cool to see your forecast report backed up with a great buck! Congratulations!
