The text I got with that pic says "Up by Jackson hole somewhere....some chick with her first bull ever"

Incredible bull for sure!

Cheers,
Pete

Great bull. No broken points. I guess When you get that big no other bulls want to fight you.

That is one of the most beautiful bulls I have ever seen, bar none. What symmetry, mass, tine length.

Who are you guys kidding. This bull has been around forever. It was killed in the Selway-Bitteroot National Forest. Nice try though. BTW he scored 439.

HK

HK sorry you took this post personally (????) but just asking a simple question...

LOL i love when people get pissed but i heard it was shot north of the colorado border. the foothills of laramie please dont take this personally!!! great bull for whatever state and where it was shot.

Cory,
the email I got said shot near Muddy Mountain.

I can say with some confidence that this does not look like the Bighorns

Just made the rounds to my phone, so if anyone out there has any information on this elk please let us know. I cant believe there is an elk this big and no one knows anything about it.

Now thats funny ElmerFudd. I knew there was something suspiscious about this elk. It is NOT the new wyoming state record elk. Until someone can prove me wrong. This elk has not been scored or entered into any record book that I know of. I have searched for three days to find out any info on this elk and there is no record of it anywhere. This is what Boone and Crocket said about it "Reported to be from the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming. No futher details at this time." The key words are "Reported to be from". Remember, Coleman Houston, reported that his deer were shot in California and now we know how that story came out.

I've been trying but cant find out any more info on this thing. I still have a hard time believing there is an elk this big, that has been on the internet for almost 2 months, and nobody has any info on it.

Now this is just a rumor I heard from a guide here in WY about 2 hours ago. Don't know if it's true or not, IT'S JUST A RUMOR.

They're saying the bull was shot on the Sheridan side of the Bighorns and was confiscated just recently because the hunter either shot it on private ground without permission or crossed private ground without permission to go shoot it on public ground.

Who knows what to believe.

Well I got a Text saying it was Killed in South Dakota and was the new State record. Go figure, I'm starting to think it was shot in canada behind a fence.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

My info says it was killed in a HEAVILY hunted area on public ground in Montana. There is NO WAY that bull was killed where a guy I know says it was. Just trying to prove it. Please post if anyone figures this out. Hell of a bull though. mtmuley

So not to stir the pot on this anymore, but ever since I saw this bull he looked really familiar. So I dug through my old trail cam pictures and pulled this one up and I have to admidt there are a lot of similaritis including the terrian in the backgrond it also looks similar to the area I got this trail cam picture from. Look at the left G1 and G2 they are very similar maybe same bull differnt year? Maybe same bull same year, mabe two differnt bulls?

What do you guys think? This trail cam picture is not from Wyoming though!

PIC_0004-1.jpg

Cool pic. Where EXACTLY is it from? It looks like the same bull.

Next week that bull will supposedly be from NM, Kentucky, Idaho, MT, CO, AB etc.

ARROWHNTR, please stir the pot on this one. Please tell us where that picture was taken. Its time for the truth to come out on this elk. Your picture looks like the same elk to me.

Ok. I have studied the 2 pictures for about 10 minutes and I would definitely have to say they are the same elk. The g-4 on the right side even has the same little bend to it. Even the tine lengths look the same.

I'd be happy to know what State that bull was killed in much less exactly where. Surely, if you have a trailcam pic and hunt the area, you would know if someone put that bull down. mtmuley

Both are two the most beautiful bulls I've ever seen, but I don't believe they are even close.

The bulls right side main beam (6th) is turned down on the Wyoming bull and goes out straight on the trail cam pic.

The supposed WY bulls left G4 is much largher than it's G5. The trailcam pic shows a much larger G5 than G4 on it's left side.

They could be the same bull but if so definitely from different years.

Cheers,
Pete

I agree with Pete I don't think they are the same bull, But BOTH pictures are of great bulls no matter where they are from or what year they was.IMO two different bulls.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

The second bull is dated 2007 and I assume the original pic is current. It is possible it's te same bull but two years difference. I don't see where anyone says that these pictures are from the same year. The environment and horn growth seem to tell me it's the same bull but different years. Anything is possible but don't compare horn growth from 2 separate years.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-05-10 AT 09:01AM (MST)[p]Sorry fellas I had to take a flight home last night and did not get back til this morning. That trail cam picture is a wasatch bull the photo was taken in 2007 as it says on the picture. I agree that it is not from the same year because I saw this bull again in 2008 still a straight huge inline 7 but I definatly think it could be the same bull in 2008 or 2009. I am not sure if he has been killed I have never seen a dead bull I thought could be him until this picture, and though surely someone killing a bull this big on the wasatch would post pictures. My mom had a tag in 2009 but we were unable to locate him this year.

>2 different bulls. the main beams
>and 4ths don't match

ummmm yeah...

...I still think the pics are from a couple years apart. It would be one in a gazillion for antlers to match two years apart even from the very same bull. Still not saying it's the same bull but very well could be........FROM TWO YEARS APART.

Ok. now I understand. It lived in UTAH, was killed in northern Wyoming, and is the South Dakota state record. On second thought, I'm more confused now than when I started.

I heard a little more on this bull. Now I'm not saying it's true, this is just what the guy told me. There was a local hunting deal here last Saturday and I talked to a guy there who says he actually held this bull. All he said was it's a legit free ranging bull from the Bighorns. I don't know if he knew more, but didn't want to say or if that's honestly all he knew. Take it for what it's worth.

I live just outside Sheridan and have not heard a word locally about this bull being killed in the Bighorns. I saw some pics of some really nice bulls taken from the Bighorns, but nothing in this league.

I didn't figure it came from Montana. At least not where some people I know are convinced it was taken. mtmuley

There isn't any ground in the black hills that looks like where that bull was shot so i was say nay!
No one in south dakota is talking about it either its all a myth like unicorns!

John

I was just gonna post up and ask if there was any new info about this bull. Is there any new REAL info yet? mtmuley

Sorry mtmuley, I keep trying to find more info on this elk, but come up with nothing. I cant believe its been three months now and still nothing but a picture and rumors.

I dont understand what the big deal is, no doubt it was one of those private land or game farm type bulls where ya step out of the truck in your jeans and poofy white truck and nail a humungous bull. None of us average guys are gonna be hunting there anyways, why does it matter where it came from?

RockyDog, I know some guys that swear this bull was killed here in the Root up in the Burnt Fork country. AND, they see bulls like this all the time. I KNOW it's BS, but I'd just like real proof the pic they send everybody over the phone isn't a Root bull like they claim it is. Since I'm a doubter, these transplants think I'm the idiot. mtmuley

this is just like the spider bull nobodys knows and nobodys talking. all I want to know is why they cut mossback out of the pic. rude....

I would like to know where it came from, That way I wont put in for that area. Apparently if you kill a big elk in the Bighorns, Neither you, or your elk are ever heard from again.
