did utah elk tags increase again?

I don't know if this has already been discussed but I have been out of the loop for a while. I was noticing that many of the elk units had more auction tags issued for them. I believe beaver last year issued only one rifle tag and now offers 2 this year. I think a few more were added to the boulder as well. What was really bad was that last year dutton had 2 rifle tags, one muzzy tag, one bow tag, and one premium tag raffled. This year it appears they are auctioning off 4 rifle tags, 2 premium tags, one muzzy and one bow. Thats almost twice as many tags. So my question is this. Is Utah about to up the tag numbers for elk again? Boy I hope not and if this has been discussed before I apologize in advance.

Im sure they will on most units. until we get the age objective down the tags will keep going up

Do you have a list or link of the auction tags you could post up? Not that I could afford to buy one just curious.
If the DWR has this list out why can't they put the tag numbers in the guidebook before the drawing?

I hope they do increase elk tag numbers. I'm going to get hung for that comment but everywhere you look all you see are elk... Less and less deer.. I like to hunt elk, have alot of fun doing it. I LOVE hunting deer.

People are screaming about low draw odds and LE elk tags being basically a OIL opportunity.

This is the answer to your "booty call" people, more tags equal more opportunity. Just don't expect to hang 390+ bulls on your walls anymore.

they wont be increasing le elk tags with the creation of spike tags. they will just kill the elk before they get horns. shame!

The way i see it, it won't matter if we kill spikes or raghorns, our quality is going to drop dramatically, it already is.
We HAVE to killl bulls, it's just that simple.
People will complain whether we kill spikes or issue more LE tags, but it's got to be done either way.

Im getting close to drawing a good rifle tag but I dont know if I can wait another 3 or 4 years to see what happens. So the only other option is burn my points on a good archery hunt this year and hope for the best. I dont need a 400 bull but I would like a chance at 350-360+ In a few years that may be very rare on most units.

I heard that the DWR was changeing the age class objective to 4-5, for most Elk units. So many people ##### about not drawing a Limited-Entry Elk tag to the DWR. Now everyone will ##### about to many hunters in these units and no trophy bulls. Cant please anyone.

The Con Org tags may have increased but I do not see any tag increase for the public draw tags.

The draw tags for 20-10 will be set in late March.

Don peay told the DWR giving him more tags was good for wildlife. See it the Manti has 500 le tags per year, it creates better hunting on the Pahvant or San Juan! What don't you understand about this?

the division, wildlife board and sfw are not increasing Le tags in this state. In fact it is the opposite of that. Why do you think they went to spike bulls state wide? They are trying to back door deal cutting the Le tags in half. They want to increase the age objective on all the units. They want to create a butt plug bonus point system and allowing more spike tags.

mark my words le units will be getting tags cut in a big way in the near future. Probably even this year!!!!

Yeah thats how it worked on the manti, they went spike only, built a really nice herd, bordering on a trophy unit a few years back, THEN put of 125+ le tags and supplied every group a fistful of them on top of that, money talks, especially to the DWR! Elk are the only money makers the DWR have now, they aren't going to cut LE tags, only raise the price!
