LAST EDITED ON Nov-19-10 AT 07:27PM (MST)[p]In the beginning my wife was ready to go elk hunting just us two. Now 16 yrs and three kids later she doesn't know if she really wants to go anymore. If this is illegal then of course the whole thing is off....

How much would you pay me to have me put you in on a LE Elk hunt with my wife who holds 14 pts for 2011 elk hunt?

Rules

1. You can't take my wife with you.

2. Pay in advance to putting in for a hunt.

3. No Refunds.

4. No guarantees you will shoot an elk.

5. I will check with the DWR and see if this is legal. If it's
a money maker I may have to put a patent on it.

Thanks for looking......This should be a fun thread.

I almost forgot...it doesn't matter what hunt or what weapon.

Ain't paying you a damn dime unless I can take her with me!:D

let's see i have six she has fourteen so in all reality I gain four points she loses four points. I think I could be wrong. I'm sure putting in as a group is legal but making a profit off of it I'm not so sure about that one.

It'll be legal!

But you'll have to pay the DWR to stay legal!

The lower the points you have the better it would work for you. If you have 0 pts then it would put you at 7 pts. saving you seven yrs of UNSUCCESSFUL.

I'm into this around $140.00 that's 10 bucks a yr to put in for the draw. ( I know in the beginning it was only 5 bucks but I'm adding interest.)

Then $280.00 for the tag.

So starting bid is at least $420.00

She may be cute but I'm not putting my 15 with her 14!:D

10 pts would give you DIAMOND MTN or FILLMOREOAKCRKSOUTH early.

or lot's of late rifle hunts and/or more archery hunts. I

forgot to look at Muzzleloader, but I'm sure you could draw

a muzzy tag on some units with 10 pts.

That's funny. About 4 years ago when I was on the SFW board, the board voted to have our people get this point averaging thing stopped if possible. It's crazy that Utah still allows it. Anyway, it was never followed through with.
I never have heard the reasoning behind "why" they still allow this. It's kind of like the returning tags right before the season, yet still earning a point. Some stuff they allow has me scratching my head.

Page 24 of the proclamation...

Both resident and nonresident can apply together. However, if you're a Utah resident and you decide to apply with a nonresident, make sure nonresident permits are available for each hunt your group is applying for.

I would pay her application cost, pay the money lost on returning the tag if drawn, and add $2000 (as an opening bid) if drawn. I can't understand why it hasn't been changed yet.

I don't see how it is much different from everyone putting in family members for the past 10 years to help them draw.

So far South_slope has top bid. I like the thought that the DWR would get a $280.00 donation when she turns her tag back plus surprise the runner-up with a phone call saying someone turned their tag back in and they are next in line if they want it. My wife would in turn lose all her points and be done.

Wrong.....they just changed the law on groups last year. If one person turns in the tag, all who drew together have to turn in the tags to get points back....
his wife be out of the game if she turns it in.....

This was to prevent people from using grandma to draw everyone out....

Well Utahelk1!

I'm going FED-EX!:D (We need change!:D)

But You'll be Profiteering off the DWR!
BAD!
BAD!

Soon as you come up with a plan where the DWR gets the biggest cut you'll be good to go!

I hadn't read that, thanks for the clarification.

I will pay you $50 to know what hunt you put in for. There would be a good chance my dad would be the runner up!

AS I read it, you two are still not on the same page.

Your rules state: money up front. and NO refunds.

The offer says he will pay IF he draws.

Anthing less than max points would not gurantee a tag. Last years points required are guidelines, but no guarantee that points won't creep up next year.

Gonna have to work that one out.

Not sure I understand the mentality of why it is OK to buy a tag at an auction for $50,000, but it's not OK to pay someone with more points to put in with you, esp. when they lose their points?

your right. I would like for both parties to put in for a hunt that is mostly guaranteed. Archery, Muzzy, and Late hunts are the best for that.

If you didn't draw you wouldn't pay. Simple as that.
Be honest with me and I will be honest with you.
How about you put her in on your credit card and pay the rest when you read successful on your Email. With that being said if you didn't draw by chance you would be out ten bucks.

That would be very generous and trusting on your part. I think I would want at least 50% up front to be refunded if you did not draw. Otherwise what is to make someone pay after they drew.

I think someone would have to have about 9-10 points for this to really help much, at least for nonresidents like me. I have 5 points and even though that would raise me to 9, that wouldn't give me very good odds in any of the better units. I would most like to muzzy hunt, but would consider an early rifle hunt. For those, with 9 points, just wouldn't help me that much. May be a different story for a resident. Good luck!

Utahelk1!

Find out if I can combine my points with your wifes points?

Maybe, just ,Maybe if I went in to the draw with about 29 points I might be able to draw & hunt where I wanna hunt?:D

More than happy to put the whole application on my card. My wife only has 3 points. It would guarantee and archery tag or give her a 20% chance on a muzzy permit. If she wants to do archery, I can put the cash in your hand.

I am not checking back on this post. PM me if you want to contact me.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-26-10 AT 07:53PM (MST)[p]Let's see, I can't put in for 4 more years so maybe I could work out some kind of long term relationship with your wife...? P.S. My Ex has 8 but thats a no win situation unless B_BOP could maybe work out some kind of threesome.

Just picture one of them venom spitting cobras Steve Irwin used to mess with. Meaner than hell. Otherwise I would of kept building points without her knowing about it.
