my son drew a late chiwawa rifle tag this year, we normaly hunt the entiat up around silver creek and do fairly well. i know that area very well and manage to have a chance at few bucks each year. however, iv not ventured over to the entiats neighbor to the west very much, we live in spokane so the drive kind of puts on a kink in our scouting time. we've been up in the chiwawa a couple of weekends over the summer and havn't found much, i plan to hunt here for the general season as well, hopefully get in some more scouting before the november late opener. i relize this is a migration unit but i dont want to bank on that incase the weather doesnt cooperate, are the majority of the bucks migratory? or is there a farily decent resident populaton? if anyone has any general info id appreciate it, iv focused mainly on the tyee side of mad river but it hasn't looked to promising so im thinking of heading over to hunt the burns on the lake wenatchee side for the general season. once again, im not looking for anyones sweet spot but any relivant info on this unit would help us out! feel free to pm me if you would prefer. thanks and good luck this year! only 2 weeks to go! -tom

My son has this same tag. We live in Wenatchee, and we hunt this unit each year and have been pretty successful. We will send you a PM. I will be in spokane this tuesday the 3rd. I will leave my number in the PM. We can help you.

I drew that tag two years ago. It is a big unit, really almost like two different ones. I ended up spending most of my time on the Tyee side, but weather really sucked for me. Foggy! With a little bit of bad weather over there a coupla' weeks ago, the Lk. Wenatchee side may not be a bad bet the first weekend or so. I wouldn't worry about little scouting time.... in that area, they're either there or they're not. If that makes sense?

Which ever you decide I'm sure you'll have a chance at finding something decent.....weather permitting. :)

Would love to see some pics when you guys are done.

The Chiwawa has a good number of local deer for the General Season but all of the Chelan County units don't really heat up until the migrators arrive. With the short season we probably won't get much movement until after the close. Hunt locals in October and get in the migration routes in November. Snow really determines where you should hunt but generally Tyee and the Northeast side of the Chiwawa River are good bets; at or above the snow line.
