Spike Areas 2011

LAST EDITED ON Feb-18-11 AT 07:40PM (MST)[p]Will spikes be hunted again in 2011 on most of our LE elk units, or is there a chance it can be changed back to the way it used to be?

Just wondered if it is set in stone for 2011, or if the Wildlife Board could change it this spring?

As of today, there will be spike hunting on the Utah LE units. There will be changes for 2012 as the Wildlife Board will be making changes!

I wish they would change it back to the way it was.Having Spike hunters hunt the same elk we wait 15 plus years to draw.Its called limited entry,So lets keep it that way IMO.Utah is going to screw up all the elk heards up on are limited entry area's.They need to stop it now before it gets any worse.... What does everyone else think????.I was on 2 limited area's last year alone.And its puttin the hurt on the class of bulls i used to see.

It's not only the spike hunts, but the increase of LE tag numbers.I think the thing that is hurting the elk heard,more than anything is the thousands of late season cow tags. If they feel like cows need to be taken to manage the heard they need to move it earlier. Just my two cents
