I see these east coast guys planting food plots. What type of feed would be good to plant out west for elk or mule deer ? I know alfalfa would be one. But I was thinking of something that would attracted them like candy. What is candy to deer and elk ? Beats or something like that ?
Have any of you tried anything or know of a web site that goes over any of this ?
Thanks

Just use deer cane for elk. That way you don't have to spend much money or time. They love that stuff. And brown sugar also.

Soy Beans and Canola, I've had both and the deer and elk have hammered each of them.

Looks like it, I know guy's that have gotten arrested for planting on Forest Service public property. I won't admit to who used my cell phone to call the poaching hot line as I read off license plate info and gave GPS data to the Ranger guy.

Come on buttshot!

Oh boy. Here we go. Looks like the ethics police are on patrol. A few deputies have shown up and the radio call has been sent out. Pretty soon the whole department will be on scene to issue oppinion citations! I don't think he mentioned where he was going to plant, or even if he was going to plant. But hey, lets convict em right here on MM. Get a ROPE!

It's always an adventure!!!

Wish I had land next to the mountain to plant some alfalfa.

Bessy I was hoping to barrow your atv with your tractor attachment ? You are all farmers up in that valley up north , right ?
It would just take alittle brush busten to get to the spot though.

Hey BigJohn!

Just get you a NE Region Tag!

Trails are already Blazed!:D

Make sure your CHUM is Certified!

I found out they don't like 'Non-Certified CHUM' dumped on the Forest!:D

I have a friend who runs a RFW here in Colorado and they create clearings in specific areas to encourage regrowth of more desirable forage. Works really.
