Anybody get screwed with the New Mexico draw deadline?

Draw deadline was today for New Mexico, not once had I seen anything about 5pm, but apparently everything closed at 5pm instead of midnight!!!!

Once less app from me, hopefully I was the only one and the rest of you guys got them in. I had some other plans fall through and that was the only reason I was even looking at New Mexico at the last minute, but it still sucks that they didn't make it extremely clear that the deadline was 5PM.

I guess Utah, Arizona, and Colorado will be the only states getting my money this year.

Still completely pissed off with New Mexico though!
I was all over that website yesterday and didn't see anything about 5PM.

Actually the webpage made note of the 5:00PM deadline in several places. You missed it. It is a mistake. Most have done it. No big, not like you lost out on a point.

You were not screwed!!

"i love when guys wait to last minute!!"

And then blame it on someone else.

It's Bush's fault!!!

You screwed yourself!!! How is it NM's fault that you didn't read the rules? Quit your whining and stop blaming other people for your own mistakes!!!

Kind of hard to get screwed, when it is impossible to draw a tag even when you do apply! LOL

I have to agree here. You screwed yourself.

I made a mistake in Nevada. They did not screw me, I am the dumb ass who did not read very well. I can work with it though and next time I will look before I leap.

Does anyone take responsibility any more?

Just stay in TX and put a stalk on an Armadillo.

Take a kid hunting. You will enjoy it more than they do!

Looks like I am up against one less for my 2b or 2c late tag...Thanks buddy!:) what other states did you miss out on?

None, everything else closed at midnight.

As far as where it was posted on the website.....I never saw it.
If it was there then I would think they would enlarge the print or do something to draw attention to it.

As far as waiting to the last minute, I already said that I had some plans fall through, maybe I should clarify and say that I had a hunting partner back out on a hunt in Colorado that was OTC. When somebody makes plans then they should stick to them, remember that next time you back out on someone.
My original plan was to not even apply for New Mexico because there is no points system in place.

AS FAR AS READING THE RULES I DID, SEVERAL TIMES, AND EVERYTHING SAID APRIL 9TH. THERE WAS SEVERAL PLACES IT LISTED APRIL 9TH WITH NO MENTION OF 5PM.

Maybe someone can answer this: Have they always closed at 5pm? Don't ever remember that before.

Where is it implied that a State should close at Midnight? And yes, they have closed at 5:00PM in the past and they are not even the only State that closes at another time than 12:00AM.

Heck, it closed at 4:00PM for me. Damn time zones!!!

Why should they put it in caps? It was in a red font right next to where it said April 9th. New Mexico is probably the easiest State to apply in. If you can't do it there you should not be allowed to carry a gun or a bow.

ACOUNTABILITY is a dying art or skill or attribute or whatever you want to call it.

Since when does business close at midnight anyways? Especially a Govnt agency? Other than the PO on April 15th.

You screwed up. Obviously you are the only one on here who had a problem with it, so it looks like you should have read it a 3rd time.

It's Bush's fault!!!

Sorry man, but the website listed it as the "April 9, 5:00 p.m. deadline" on the homepage in red, underneath the "Online Application" header and everywhere else the April 9 deadline was listed. Helped a few buddies put in yesterday and it was noted everywhere...

I was told that there will most likely not be an extension of the deadline due to the fact that the new application site "functioned" this year and did not crap out as it did in the past. (though you had to fill everything out at lightning speed to avoind getting logged off) We will see if they hold true to their word. You might get lucky.

Pretty sure the deadline was a 5:00 deadline last year as well. And, if we had a preference point system for what few NR tags there are in each unit it would take even longer for a NR to even hope to hunt NM.

Yeah yeah, I may not be pissed now but I'll definitely say I'm "screwed by New Mexico" if the draw results come out and I get some red "unsuccessful" boxes in my draw results page!

>Ha ha....I love how everyone gets
>fired up and starts lecturing
>immediately.
You saw that too?

I guess enough is enough.
So here is the kicker, I posted with the intent to pull some of you out in the open and see who the self righteous "know it alls" are? Did it work???

I'll let others be the judge.
I figured to give it 24 hours just to see who all would give the lectures.....

1. For those of you who chose not to condemn and lecture, you need to post up more on this site.

2. For those that took this with humor, I can understand where you're coming from.

3. For those that chose to lecture, have you ever made a mistake? On anything?

When you come to an internet forum you should do so with the intent to help others, not to slam others with insults and condemning attitudes.(Hope it made you feel good.)

For groups #1 and 2, I'll buy you a beer or whatever if I ever run into you, my treat to show that I appreciate your type.

For group #3-re-read your posts and look at how you came across. What if I was a new hunter who really screwed up? or What if I was an impressionable kid who posted up on here? or 1,000 other what if's?

I hope most of you can look past the method used and see what I was trying to accomplish with this post in a short 24 hours.

I have been on here and other websites for years but it seems that in the last year things on here have really gone very negative with fewer and fewer hunters willing to help each other out.
I will stand by what I have said before, and some can attest to, I will give any help I can to those who want or need info and I will hope you can use it and have a good hunt.

Hopefully this site can get back to hunters being friendly and helping each other out, instead of seeing the threads asking for help go to the bottom of the page without one response.

(For those that have missed it: While I did miss the deadline, it was my fault and there is no blame and no hard feelings, kind of humorous really. This thread was a test to see how people on here would respond?)

Good Luck to all of you in the draws and good hunting! Cheers!

"3. For those that chose to lecture, have you ever made a mistake? On anything?"

Many people do make mistakes. Very few take personal responsibility for them.

"When you come to an internet forum you should do so with the intent to help others, not to slam others with insults and condemning attitudes.(Hope it made you feel good.)"

Isn't that what you were doing with NM?

"(For those that have missed it: While I did miss the deadline, it was my fault and there is no blame and no hard feelings, kind of humorous really. This thread was a test to see how people on here would respond?)"

Did you forget what you posted the first time?

Practice what you preach. All three of the things above contradict your first post.

" Draw deadline was today for New Mexico, not once had I seen anything about 5pm, but apparently everything closed at 5pm instead of midnight!!!!"

"I was even looking at New Mexico at the last minute, but it still sucks that they didn't make it extremely clear that the deadline was 5PM."

"Still completely pissed off with New Mexico though!
I was all over that website yesterday and didn't see anything about 5PM."

How is any of those statements asking for help?

It's Bush's fault!!!

Same thing happend to me last year with Colorado oh well I am just one point less.

Think what you want, you can look at all my posts. Never blamed someone else for my own stupidity before this thread. LOL

You can also see where I stopped posting on here a while back, I still answer pm's from guys wanting information, (check with WARBIRDUM and TOOELE,)but the negativity is what has driven me away from here.

Sites like Elkcamp and muleymadness are a lot more "friendly" and enjoyable to read up on.

You think I didn't know what was going to happen when I posted?

Look at what I wrote...
"Still completely pissed off with New Mexico though!"

..you don't see a little exageration? You don't see the so called "justification" in my second post to see what that would get??
Come on, who writes this stuff for real?

"Come on, who writes this stuff for real? "

Unfortuneately too many people. Nobody takes any personal responsibility anymore.

It's Bush's fault!!!

3D, I disagree with the statement that the members are not friendly, helpfull, etc. I'm an outsider from IL. and anytime I needed info on anything everyone has been willing to help. I think maybe you just had a bad experiance or two. Sorry for that. But I love this site. I'm also going to check out the two other sites you mention. Good luck to you in future draws.

Hyprocrite! You don't like the negativity on the site so you come up with a lie to induce a negative response???

How am I the bad guy when I don't agree with a person that can't accept responsibility for there own actions? What's wrong with that?

Sorry I didn't realize you were conducting a Hall Monitor Sting Operation!

GPS!

I read it wrong too I thought it read screwed in New Mexico, I WAS GOING TO ASK WHERE. LMAO

Come on man, if the negativity is what drove you away from this site yet you knew "what was going to happen" when you posted this then why go and post a negative thread that does nothing more than create more negativity? Where is the rationale in proving that your negativite thread can breed even more negativity? I fail to see how posting a negative thread and then lecturing those who respond in kind for their reactions is benficial in any manner. I'm sure you were frustrated but I'm not buying your logic here.

Besides, New Mexico has not kept you of it for the year, you can still buy a landowner voucher for deer for a reasonable price and probably still come and have a quality hunt for cheaper than other Western states.
