If your looking for the best deer spots in the state, you probably won't find it on a cwmu. The l.e. units produce much larger deer on a regular basis, but they are harder to get tags for, and they are not micro managed as closely as cwmu's are.

im just wondering based on everyones experiences with the operators and such. i have my points building and im personally holding for henrys archery.

I have only hunted the Deseret CWMU and it was a great experience. Took a great deer and had a great time with my family. Todd at Deseret was great to work with. No Complaints. I have also heard good things about the Alton and Ensign Ranches units. You have to hunt hard at Deseret but the potential in huge.

Hope this helps.

Durst Mountain is pretty good and the operator John Hansen is a straight shooter.

Anything between Causey and Lost creek is a great bet. All those CWMUs hold big deer. How the CWMUs are run is a different story.

Skull Crack holds some huge deer. If you google "Walt Prothero" and read some of his books on mule deer you will see the quality of bucks on there. He hunted the land religiously before it became private land. He shot a 30+ inch buck every year for 7 years I think on there. There are some huge bucks on there.
Skull Crack only gives out 1 tag to the public and there are plenty of applications, so I wouldn't get your hopes up for that one. The operators run a crappy operation anyway (From what I have heard).

As far as a Quality hunt with some trophy class deer, I would say Deseret is the best. Very rarley will you find a CWMU that has trophy class deer and is run by good, honest, kind people. It's usually one or the other.

You have to be careful Ive heard some horror stories on some CWMUs. Inparticular the Alton ranch. They cater big time to their paying clients and send the public tag to the worst spots. Just word of mouth no personal experience but Id hate to see 10 years of points go down the tubes.

the cwmu's in the northern region were hit hard with the winter kill. do not expect to see allot of monster deer running around saying shoot me.
I was up on hells canyon this year and it was pretty sad.
