This is the buck my Dad killed back in the early 90's. We had mules back then and did most of our hunting off of them in the high country of area 10. This one particular trip we had ridden up high and stopped to have some lunch and to look the country over. I dont even remember my Dad or I having binoculars :) Anyways we had or mules tied off and were sitting on a huge rock eating our viena sausages or (poodle peters) as my Dad called them when I started getting antsy. I was only 12 or 13 at the time and couldnt hold still very long. So I decided to take a little hike through some thick clover in hopes of kicking out the deer that like to bed there. I haden't been gone 5 minutes when I looked up and seen my Dad jumping around looking for his rife. I watched as he he took 2 quick shots and raised his arms above his head yelling "I just killed a wall hanger, I just killed a wall hanger". I remember yelling back "yeah right Dad". Well it wasn't long before we were standing over his "wall hanger" that had been spooked and was running straight to my Dad :) He was a very old buck with a really white face and small body. He is a great buck but I believe he was on the downhill side and was a toad only a few year earlier. We didn't carry cameras very often so all I have are a few pics of the head mount that now hangs on my wall. Thanks Dad!

He is a 8x7 and is just under 30" wide.

Thanks for posting a cool buck and a neat harvest brief that goes along with it! I'm a Nevada hunter and love stories about bucks taken in Nevada, especially Areas 6,7, and 10!I have so many memories of ones that got away from those areas, especially of the '60's through '80's when the hunting was for big bucks was in the heydays before the proliferation of hunters, ATV's, wilderness areas, huge range fires, drought, mining exploration, etc.

Nice buck and a great story. That's what hunting is all about, them kind of memories that never go away!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
