Old Mounts

Here is a pic of a buck my grandpa killed in 1939 on or near the old family homestead not far from Red Lodge, Montana. My grandpa mounted it himself and it hung in his living room for a number of years before I was born. I found it in his attic about 1987 and hung it in my bedroom while I was a teenager. It only had one eye left. The ears were all tattered and the lead in them was exposed. It was really cool looking. While I was away for a couple years my dad had it remounted. It looks nice now, but I kind of liked the old rustic look. This pic is of the original taxidermy.
Anyone else have pics of cool old mounts. I like the ones with little or no neck. Saw a whitetail in the rafters of a lumber yard once that couldn't have had more than about 2 inches of hide behind the skull. It was just a head mount, I guess.
I really think the old ones are cool.
Post up some pics if you've got them!

LAST EDITED ON Feb-26-10 AT 12:08PM (MST)[p]It's hanging in an office of a metal supply company in Twin Falls.
The guys mother shot it over at Subblet in the late fortys.
He mounted it himself, it's a pretty cool mount you can see the cotton string he used to sew the mouth shut,, just one of those old mounts that is a classic..It's never been scored, but i have just about got him talked into doing so.
Another one of those that the pics don't do it justice, the mass is amazing..

My grandfather killed this buck in 1931 at Summer Lake Rim, Oregon. He left it to me in his will upon passing in 1983. It hung in his den with another buck, an antelope, and a moose. I had cleaned it up but it was falling apart. The nose was cracking and had split down the center and the cape was pulling away from the eyes. The hair was also falling out. I had it re-mounted with a new cape in 2003 by Stan Martin and it looks great. This buck scores 191 5/8 net.
