So can 12 year olds hunt in Utah this year?

I am not sure when 12 year olds will be allowed to start hunting big game in Utah please help me out if you know.

From what I have herd, that 12 -14 year old kids will be able to hunt general seasons this year. It may not be put into law until this summer? Would like to know more clarification. The only hunts that may be left would be northern rifle, spike elk and general season elk. Antlerless hunts as well.

1) They won't be able to hunt until 2008 on General Units because the regs still say 14 in the calendar year.

2) They will be able to hunt because legislation controls the age and once the Governor signs the bill, the legal age will be 12 in the calendar year. That would make it legal for a 12 yr old to buy say an archery deer tag.

Anyone in the know care to explain? I've heard conflicting reports from alot people. Personally, I would think they can since it's a legislative action, thus a law-- but who knows!

From the proposed 2007 Antlerless Addendum:

"Change to Hunting Age: Youth ages 11 and 12 may apply for antlerless deer, antlerless elk, and doe pronghorn permits this year. However, the permits are not valid until the hunter?s 12th birthday. Youth ages 11 and 12 may not apply for limited entry or antlerless moose. See page XX for details."

"(3) (a) A person 12 years of age or older may use a valid permit to hunt big game."

i heard that they can hunt antlerless when they are 12 but nothing else
