Ive been hunting vernon, ut archery and the opening day had some good luck on spotting big deer... then i had to go out of town for work for just over a week and now i came back and they are nowhere to be found...HELP PLEASE!!!!!

Most of the bucks are still there but just a little further up into the canyons or draws. Also, look into the bottom of many of the deeper canyons or draws. Most people are looking on the ridgetops, which they have moved off of.

I hunted the Vernon last year on the archery hunt and did not get my buck until the last weekend of the hunt. I definatly noticed that it was harder to find the bucks after labor day, but as ridgetops said they are still there. Most of them are in the same canyons they were in early in the hunt just hid up better in the thick brush. We had the best luck late setting up in there escape routes and pushing them out of the thick brush.

It seems to me that once the bucks have started to rub that tender velvet off they are more inclined to stay in the thick stuff. Good advice...keep after it.
