First time applying to arizona i know im in for the long haul. investing 153 a year is not too bad, if there is hope. anyone know the drawing odds and points needed to draw deer tag for opportunity at bucks 180+ am i looking at more than 10 years

There are 180+ bucks in most units in AZ, just not that many. Unit 13 and 12 have the most bucks of that size and it will be a while based on the current odds.

Just remember AZ runs on a bonus point system not preference points. It could take 0 or it could take 13.

It's Bush's fault!!!

Remember, this guy is a NR! No way he's going to draw one of the premium hunts north of the ditch unless he has max BP! Exception is 12A West early. Last year it was the only premium deer tag north of the ditch that didn't require max BP to draw!

I know cause I got the list!

Oh he could draw in another unit, but not much hope for those premium tags.

I believe that is the "Vendors List" purchased from G&F of ALL "Lucky" tag holders by Genus ---

Don,

Any idea when the draw will take place? It would be nice to know this month even though the say August.

Don,

I just got done interviewing THREE hunters yesterday for an article who drew tags for the early 12A hunts. One was a resident who hunted the West side and the other two were NRs, who hunted the East side.

Not one of them had max points, and one of the NRs from CA drew his permit with only ONE bonus point in the bank. The other NR from MO, had 8 bps and had one of the Strip hunts listed as 1st choice. The 12A East hunt was his 2nd choice!

All three hunted with Duwane Adams and killed bucks that grossed more than 190. -TONY

I'm kind of in the same boat. If I go in for the long haul for deer and elk, would Arizona or Nevada be better as far as quality and years to draw. Yes I know you can draw with 0 points, but with that aside - would you say AZ or NV. The guy with Cabela's tags said Arizona for sure.
