CO Area 2 info

I am planning on hunting CO area 2 this fall for cow. I have 15 PP and hope to draw a bull tag in the next year or so and want to scout this year inpreparation. I have never hunted the area before. Any help would be appreciated. Areas to camp, area to start at, anything special I need for the areas. Any recommended maps ect. Thanks Tony ZZZZ

I know this is a tuff area to draw but isbn't there anyone out there that has hunted this area.

There sure is, I Know this area really well and a cow will be a piece of cake. I can tell you lots of places to go scout out for the big bull when you draw, and you can plunk a cow along the way somewhere. Make sure you have the blm map of that area and drop me a line, [email protected]

I archery hunted unit 2 two years ago, spent every weekend all summer up scouting,walked alot of different canyons,glassed from high points, watched lots of bulls, some very good. I didn't find them where other people told me to look. but I think they would be there during rifle season. The elk seemed to move more into the flats (sage brush) as the rut developed. It's a great time and you will see lots of bulls. Don't get in a hurry to shoot but don't expect 350's behind every bush. I went up to the unit last year looking for a particular bull, didnot find him but the horn growth was a lot better than the year before.Lots better water.

I have bowhunted in Unit 2 twice. I killed a 358 there in 2004 and a 330 in 2002. The biggest bull that I've seen harvested there grossed 371. I've helped some other guys kill some 330-365 bulls as well. PM me and I'll see what I can do to help. What is your weapon of choice and are you a resident or non-resident? [email protected]
