Just a quick question, my Dad just asked me to check out how the hunting was around Saskatoon. He wouldn't tell me why, so any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is some good hunting around Saskatoon. There are huge whitetails mixed in with some big mule deer. The terrain consisits of rolling hills mixed with poplar bluffs. The South Saskatchewan river also runs through the area. The zone surrounding Saskatoon is shotgun, archery, muzzleloader only. It is mainly private ground and access can be tough. That area is also off limits to non-residents. The only way a non-resident could hunt around there would be on an Indian Reserve. There is one reserve about a half hour or so south of Saskatoon ( White Cap Dakota Reserve) I am not sure if they outfit or not. I know the Mosquito Reserve between Saskatoon and North Battleford outfits and there are some big deer taken there.

Sask, thanks for the input. He finally told me why, and it was a question of maybe moving up there. 98% sure it WON'T happen, but thanks anyway. It was actually more to Regina I think it was. Thanks again.

I don't think he would regret moving there. It is a decent sized city (approximately 200 000). It has good hunting close for whitetail and mule deer and great whitetail hunting a short 2 hour drive north and great mule deer hunting a short 2 hour drive south. North you will also get into good elk hunting a moose hunting.

What's the country like? I hear it's 9 months of winter, 1 month of summer, and 2 months of rain. And your talking about Regina correct?

I was actually talking about Saskatoon. Right at Regina is as flat as you are going to see. The area near Regina is where saskatchewan gets its very flat reputation from. You could watch your dog run away for three days. There is the Qu'Appelle valley that is not too far from Regina that is excellent deer country and as you head east from Regina towards Manitoba you will get into some more bush which is good for whitetail. The 9 months of winter is not very far off.
