This is in addition to an earlier post that I couldn't post a pic to. Thanks for the info on posting BrianID. This isn't the biggest buck out there but it is my biggest to date. Any guesses as to what he will score? This was in an early August/September hunt in Idaho that took right up to that last day of hunting for me to finally get this buck. I wasn't going to be able to put much time in this year later in the season so I decided to try my luck in the early hunt, got drawn and after alot of hard work and time, it paid off.

You know looking at the buck again I take that back. Those are some dandy main beams and deep forks. It's hard to say from the picture. He is a 4pt on the left side right? If so then I bet he's going to be in the low 180's.

Do you plan to find out what he scores? if so please let us know. I'd be interested to find out for sure.

Congratulations!

Ya, he's got 4 on the left side and 5 on the right and the little sticker as an eyegaurd on the right as well. I will find out the actual score in the next couple weeks and let you know what he ended up scoring. Thanks for the input.

Hmmmm, I'm gonna go with Kyles first guess, probably mid 170's. Nice buck. He's got some great looking main beams. tell us how longs those mains are!

Congrats....was he an early 39er?

165 to 168 I think would be a good guess. Very good looking buck congrats.

Great buck! My guess would be around 172-176 gross! know matter what he scores he is a dandy of a buck.

Yes, it was the early 39 hunt. I decided to try and draw this hunt becuase I wasn't going to be able to do much in November this year and it actually ended up being a decent hunt (for that early in the year). This was the biggest buck I saw over several weeks of hunting. I saw him for the first time at about 25 yards but for only a split second and he vanished into some brush. I saw him a couple other times without being able to get a shot at him, until the last day I was going to be able to go out and that moring I caught him out in the open a little over 200 yards away, with 2 other beautiful 4 points and another 2 point. They all knew we were there and were on their way out again. I started to wonder once again if I was going to get a shot. As this deer was about 10 yards from the treeline just about to enter the trees and dissappear again, I made a loud crying sound, almost as you would hear on a predator call, and he stopped dead in his tracks to look back and see what the noise was all about. He was about 225 yards away and the ol' 260 was luckily dialed in that morning.

Cool Story. Were you guys hunting the highest stuff possible? That sounds like a cool hunt, the weather is somewhat hospitable up there that time of year!

fisrtcoueswas80inches, yes, I love that rifle. It's been everywhere with me and has taken many animals. The scope on my gun is probably similar to yours but mine is a 3-9 leupold. Sweet rifle though.

Hornseeker, Thanks. The funny thing is though was that I wasn't as high in elevation as you would think. Of course that's where you'd think to go that time of year, and that is where we started hunting. We started up between Trinity and Lava mountains, but we weren't seeing the number of deer we were expecting so we decided to go check out another area, not nearly as high and the first thing I saw in this area was this deer with another 2 point. I saw him for just a split second. I hunted that draw for the rest of the season, finally getting him on what was to be my last day out this year. He wasn't down in the desert lands but definitely in the lower foothills.

Thanks everybody for welcomming a newcommer to this site as you all have.

Take it easy,
Jaxon
