Well here's the deal.
My friend and I are attempting to plan a Mule deer hunt for our Dads. Seeing as they are the ones who introduced us to the outdoors we want to do something to repay them. So we thought a Deer hunt out West(currently in MN) would be a good idea. Problem is we are still fairly young(23 and 22) so we are trying to do as much we can ourselves. We are open to where we go, looking at CO, WY, and MT. Again, open to suggestions. Any info regarding, good zones to apply for, draw chances, good public land. Basically, if you were in our situation how would you go about this. The only one with Muley experience is my old man, but since it's a surprise I don't want to tip him off. Anything will help.

Thanks in advance

I live in WY and might be able to help with something here, but some of our areas are very rugged and I'm not sure if you would be interested in something like that. If so, let me know. We also have some lower land hunts, but some of the draw odds are fairly low. With a bit more information about what you are intersted in and expectation, I'd be willing to give some areas you may want to look in to. Sounds fun anyway.

If you are intrested in Utah for next year( draw was due Jan 31st) We can help ya there.Just a South Dakota boy who moved out west.

Dan,
That is a complicated question as there are so many alternatives. I am also from MN and have hunted nearly all the western states. There are a number of places you can go to see large quantitys of muleys (good chance for success) but probably slim chances of getting something special. That said western hunting is an exceptional experience trophy or not. Send me an email with your phone number and I will give a call and detail some of the areas that I think offer decent NR opportunities. The drawings in some states are already closed so if you are thinking about 2005 you will need to move quickly.
