Most rifle owners aren't gunsmith-savvy and have the know-how to match-up parts with their MLs. If there was a packaged kit in stores for the most popular ML make and models and such a kit outlined for my Knight Vision (for example), I would be all over that idea.

Want me to take out 1-2 screws - remove the old front sight and insert the new kit and install 1-2 screws, then tighten it down?...... sure thing.

Tried it and didn't like it. Crosshairs just don't stand out in deep shadow or at dusk for me.

Personally I like the rear peep with a small front fiberoptic and 6 o'clock hold. To each his own.

Do a search under Marley on here and see what he did. He took an elk in Colorado at well over 200 yards with his set up.

That front sight set up is what I have been using for years. I like the single post. The cross hair covered up too much of the target.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-25-15 AT 04:32PM (MST)[p]I agree, I have that globe front sight on one of my guns and I use the post too.

I have been using the 6 oclock hold but don't like it personally. it just covers up too much stuff for me to feel comfortable and I don't get the feeling it is accurate. I shoot it well using that technique but always have a ere feeling using it.

Doesn't take much time to order the parts and match them up, I had more trouble finding a place that had them on hand.

But were you using the 6 o'clock hold with a rear peep?

yes I was, with the fiber up front. Don't like it at all that way. probably be better with a post or something up front but I am not sure about that either.

don't know the correct term but I used the top of the front sight to aim, just don't like not being able to see what is all "below" that line. At 100 yards there is A LOT that a person can't see using that technique. if you are shooting 60 yards or less it is just fine, not beyond that though.

lol.
here are two pic's showing what I am trying to say.
The large circle is the front fiber, smaller red circle is where I have it sighted in to hit when aiming.
At close range the fiber doesn't cover much up, but as you get out near 100 yards, then the 2nd picture is more what you are are seeing. Lots of stuff is covered up, I don't like that.

if a person was to try and shoot at 125 yards or more using that 6 oclock or 12 oclock hold what ever the correct term may be then your sight picture with a fiber optic up front would look like this third pic or worse. Yes at the range this style of aiming works but in hunting situation there are way to many "unknowns" and I am not aiming like that.

I can't even get the circle right to aim in the proper spot on the 3rd pic sitting here at my computer...

Use the center of the peep ring to sight in on not the top of the ring. Then use a post and shoot at the top of the post. That covers up minimal target. Using that method your pictures show you would be shooting way too hi.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-01-15 AT 07:06AM (MST)[p]Contender, he is saying that the circle he is drawing is the front fiberoptic bead?? The small circle is just his aim point.

Dam# mnthunter. How big of a front fiberoptic post do you have?? Mine just barely covers a 4 INCH circle at 100 yards (4 MOA and I just verified that). What you drew is about what my rear peep shows at those distances.

What you have drawn at 100 yards looks to be about a 4 FOOT circle. That makes no sense with any front bead I have ever seen

Just trying to help. Mine is set up non fiber optic and with an Iron pin, file it down. File the top of the pin flat not round. The flat part is where your bullet will hit not over it or under it. You don't file down the peep just the pin.

I had the smallest fiber front sight I could find.
don't know the exact size but I have changed and use the setup I posted above.

Good. Different things work for different people. Hope it works great for you.
