Who hunts D-13?

I used to hunt D-13 quite a few years ago but havent the last 5 years. I used to hunt just Northeast of Highway 33. Has anyone on this site hunted that the last couple of years? I thought about giving it another shot. My Dad and I have taken a couple of decent 3 by 3's out of there. Im sure the last few years have done it some good with all the rain we've gotten. Any info?

Where does D13er get his handle from, but I doubt if he will pass along any info.

I have never asked. But maybe he'll respond to my post. D-13 isnt considered a "hot" zone and, as far as my experience putting in for the tag, we've always been drawn. I'd simply like to compare stories and see if the deer numbers have improved. When we hunted it, one year we'd see quite a few deer and then the next year we wouldnt see a doe- hunting the same area year after year. It was kind of strange.

Isn't there a lot of good burns to hunt in that area? Seems like there is always fires down that way.

I know that there were fires in the LA area but I'n not sure how far Northeast they came.

I think that there was a decent sized fire on Mt. Pinos a month or so ago..I'd check that out.. You won't normally see a lot of bucks up there, but there are some big ones..Problem is..you could hunt it for a week straight and not see one..I jumped a real heavy 21 inch (or so) buck in there 5 or 6 years ago..It was the last weekend, he was rutting, and I almost stepped on him and his doe's before they got up..2 bounds and I never saw them again.. He was a great buck.. Good luck!
