We finished my buck from last Fall and it looks pretty good. The cape stayed perfect, and looks just like the day I shot him. Not all that many 4x4's taken, and I'm happy to have a mid-130's Blacktail to show for it!

Not much to tell. Hunting with our friends in the Roseburg area, and we were lucky enough to have some access to private land. We got a real early start in the drizzle and fog that is so typical of the area in late October and we took opposite sides of a valley and started working our way up the mountain. Looked at quite a few Columbia Whitetails down low (expensive deer in that area), and saw a couple nice BT bucks up higher. They absolutely love running around in all that poison oak, and were starting to rut hard!

Looked real hard at a tremendous old forked horn chasing does, and moved up the mountain and found this one. Down in the oaks with lots of acorns on the ground and plenty of does feeding. Find the girls at the end of October and the boys won't be far away. After looking him over good and verifying he was a 4x4, one quartering away shot later and it was over. Took some pics down in the ravine where he fell, another when we got him up to a fire road, then the last one when the fog burned off. My hunting partner got an even older 4x3 the next day, so we had a great hunt!

Thanks for the positive comments everyone. If he'd had back forks like the fronts, he would have been an absolute monster. Still trying for that elusive Applegate muzzy tag in the rut, so maybe a better one can join him on the wall someday!
