Picked up a new Ruger American Ranch rifle in 5.56 this week. I have been waiting for the new model which accepts AR-15 mags to show up at the dealers. Clean lines, short and light weight, and a nice flat earth color. Threaded for a suppressor already too.
Couldn't wait to try it out, so mounted an older Redfield 4X scope with really fine crosshairs in Burris Z-rings to the picitinny rail. Got several different boxes of ammo to try, both 223 and 5.56 Nato, and went out this morning. Started out with the NORMA USA Tac-223 in 55 grain FMJ. Sighted in with just one shot in the center at 25 yds., moved out to 100 and shot two 3/4" groups and got them centered at 2" high.
Took the target out to 200 yds. and proceeded to shoot 2-4 shot groups into 2.5" WOW, what a sweet little gun!
Anybody looking for a great truck gun really ought to consider this one. At around $450 it is easy on the pocketbook and fun to shoot.
