Ohio Youth Season

Last Sunday my Dad took my 7 yr old out with him for the Ohio youth season, I had to work. I was able to take him out Saturday night and we saw 2 bucks and a doe but no shot opportunity. At 1245 my Dad saw a nice buck coming in and handed my son my ML. He was able to get the buck in the scope at 35 yards broadside and hammered him. He went straight down and never moved, took the top of the heart off and I had the gun loaded down a little for him. The bullet dumped all its weight into him and I found it lodged between the ribs and hide on the off side. For his first deer he did pretty good and we are having it mounted. He is an 8 pt eastern count and weighed 131 lbs dressed. Did not make a decision about letting him go hunting until about 3 weeks ago when he shot my ML accurately out to 50 yards. That is about as far as he can shoot on the property we have permission to hunt anyways.

He still hasn't stopped talking about it. He went to church this week and ran up to everyone he knows and told them about it. I am very happy he was successful just hope he doesn't expect it to be that quick everytime. I took 10 years to get my first one.
