I thought when that buck went to the pannel, they called the G2 and 3 a common base and it did not beat out jhonsons buck.

I could be wrong, it is still one of the most empressive typicals ever.

What awesome Buck, Those Northern Whitetail do grow some great headgear.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

I think the scoring comment above is correct if I remember right. I saw this buck at a show a year of so after it was taken.

I think P&Y wanted to score it as a non-typ, Zaft thinking he had a new world record typical was upset and withdrew it all together from the P&Y book......if I remember correctly.

Completesportsman I think you are correct about him not entering the deer, but is a great buck.

You guys are correct, the deemed the g2,g3 as acommon base point, which took this almost world record status buck down to a 170 2/8 typical.

There was alot of strange things happening with the panel, that Wayne pulled it. B&C ask to score it properly, because they didn'tbelieve that P&Y had made the correct decision.

I know P&Y can some strange choices.

I have seen the common point that they refer to, and they made the wrong decision. I also know of deer that actually have common bases that they have entered that shouldn't have been.

Unfortunately, the buck gets punished the most, denying it, the recognition that it deserves, not the is/isn't everyone discusses.

when he shot this buck didnt it have some dried up velvet hanging off. mount looks great.

I think I would have to let that one walk. I would be shacking to much to get a shot. That is an amazing animal. Do not know the story but he is a great deer. If he wasn't baited or pen raised on a private ranch that makes him even cooler. I am not a P&Y or B&C guy my friends are all about that crap. I know big when I see it and I think their scoring system is kinda stupid.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-12-11 AT 09:34PM (MST)[p]This incredible giant was taken by Wayne Zaft in 2001. The buck was arrowed on public land near Edmonton, Alberta.

There are very few game ranch's in Canada. 99.9% of game taken is free range on public or private land.
