co antelope RFW

I've tried RFW twice for deer, once for elk and once for antelope. Never had a good experience with any of them. Anyone had any "good" luck with any RFW? Since no one seems to be excited about the northern part of the state, how about the south part of the state. Rimrock ranch for antelope? Other private places in the south that might let us hunt without a guide? I've had people racing to beat me to a herd, had them shoot over my head while stalking a group. Want someplace where I can glass, pick an animal and not see 8 other vehicles wondering around me. Open to any ideas Thanks

There's a lot of country in Southern Colo and you likely won't see many hunters. Also lots of private land. I believe Eastman shot an amazing buck there a few years ago that scored very well....on private land.

My son drew a North Park tag last year with 13 pts and we ended up returning his tag. That area had horrible winterkill last year so hardly any antelope...and mature bucks. I believe NW Color has been hit several times in the past 10 years with pretty rough winters....before that was some of the driest years in that areas history. I used to see literally hundreds of antelope to the west of Craig and there is hardly any once you get 15 miles west of town. There's usually a lot more antelope closer to Craig where the antelope had water from all the small private parcels of land through the super bad drought years. The BLM areas west of Craig have never rebounded since that time.

There just aren't that many antelope in Colo that have made the all time B&C list. If you are searching for a whopper buck possibly draw a unit in a county with B&C potential and go for it.

Not really expecting a B&C buck We are hoping to find a good mature buck is all. Also a hunt where we won't feel pushed by too many hunters taking up the space around us.

Might check to see if Bobby Hill Ranches of Trinidad, Colorado offer RFW goat tags? That is where the Eastman's do their goat hunts and their other supposed "DIY" public land deer and elk hunts in southern COLORADO. Also do their purported DIY public land deer hunts in Wyoming on private land on Muudy Creek Ranch owned by Wendell Fraughton. Just saying? Good luck.

Not positive but I believe the purgatoire ranch that we hunted on is now owned by Bobby hill. That was the ranch we hunted 3 years ago. They weren't very open with where you could go to hunt. Bobby hill is in it mainly for the money he gets from game & fish to sell privately. In 4 days we only could find maybe 12 bucks and none were over 14" with small prongs. I know that ranch is huge but they would only let hunts in a small area.
