LAST EDITED ON Feb-08-12 AT 01:03PM (MST)[p]I was surfing around today and stumbled onto the SFW website chapter page:

http://www.sfw.net/chapters/

Haha I'm curious as to how long this page has been posted. Funny how AZSFW is conveniently left off of their shaded map! Even though PD openly set up AZSFW! Go figure! And funny how SFW avoids helping states that need help with their game management the most desparately, like OR & WA, but have no trophy game tags worth auctioning.

I could swear I read somewhere, I thought in one of Weier's statements, that the midnight rape bill only involved like a fraction of 1% of the state of AZ big game tags? I searched for it but I thought I was going to vomit reading his mindless drivel so I had to stop.

For those still skeptical out there, thought I'd post an interesting fact about their ~1% tag theft. What they don't tell you (unless you are an auction participant, to which they openly boast on their website), is that they are after only the best of the best tags!

IN UTAH..............

After waiting 16 years, I will finally be drawing one of the only 2 remaining Utah nonresident Paunsagunt archery deer tags. I was cheated out of a rifle or mzl tag there by past SFW thefts. Guess how many auction/raffle tags there are elligible for my archery hunt? So far I have counted eleven! That's right, eleven. Keep in mind there may be others I have not yet found. So that means 85% (11/13) of the premium tags available to nonresidents are going to fat cats, plus a couple lemmings from the SLC expo. While only 2 go to regular Joe six-pack guys like me who have paid and waited our turn.

Sound like the North American Model For Wildlife Conservation in action???

This is while they drivel they only want 1% of your tags.

I am just dyin to burn those 15 UT deer points and get the hell out of their SFW run ponzi scheme forever.

You are 100% right. I spent my Utard points 3 years ago and was considering gettin back in their game but your post just re opened my eyes! Why in the heck do I want to play a game where fat cats just cut in line? No thanx and keep em out of Arizona. BH1

The worst part is you know they are gonna come back for more, and dilute our points even further down the road! Hell half the wildlife board and legislators are on the UTSFW payroll.

I just hope they don't fastrack a UT rape for this year before I cash my points in. If it's illegal DP can still just label it as an emergency bill to steal it.

Zim,

I understand your frustrations. I would be too. Many of the Pauns deer auction tags that SFW have, are bought from land owners and are not from the general draws. Everyone wants a chance at good tags. We are all non res. Good luck in your deer tag.

I FOUND IT!!!

This was pulled from post #32 in the "More Auction/Raffle Tags" Topic, as appearing in a letter written by SFW cronnie Chris Denham:

"3. These tags are being taken away from the average hunter. True, in the short run. OF COURSE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT 0.2 OF 1 PERCENT OF THE TAGS, the change in drawing odds is so small that it cannot be calculated. Besides, how difficult will it be to increase our big game herds by 0.2 of one percent with a serious cash infusion? These tags will improve the average hunter?s odds of drawing a tag within a very short period of time."

Who ya crappin, Chris??? Talk about grossly twisting the truth! You folks skim the cream of the crop tags but then compare them to ALL the tags in your calculation, including 100% of the crap tags. You don't touch any dogs, just leave those for Joe Lunchbox and tell us to shut up and be happy as we count our raped & devalued bonus points.

Pound sand, SFW.

ENTIRE LETTER>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

from Chris Denham:
Friends:

I am heading out the door to the first trade show of the year but I wanted to weigh in HB 2072.

You are probably hearing a lot about HB 2072, which was introduced in the state legislature last week. Most of what I read is a poor interpretation of the actual bill. I encourage you to read it all and make an informed decision.

Let me give you a very brief synopsis of the bill. HB 2072 allows a qualifying organization to purchase about 300 big game tags from the Arizona Game and Fish Department and re-issue them via auction and raffle. The majority of the tags will be sold through a raffle to be held at an annual sportsman?s expo to be held in Arizona. There are six purposes for which this money can be spent, and they are written into the law! Here they are:

1. TO SUSTAIN OR CREATE SPORTSMEN EDUCATION AND OUTDOOR PROGRAMS FOR
YOUTH OF THIS STATE.

2. TO FACILITATE ACCESS FOR SPORTSMEN TO CROSS PRIVATE LANDS ONTO
PUBLIC LANDS.

3. TO SUSTAIN OR ENHANCE HABITAT IN THIS STATE AND TO INCREASE
TARGETED SPECIES POPULATIONS FOR DEER, SHEEP, ELK, PRONGHORN (ANTELOPE) AND
TURKEY IN THIS STATE.

4. TO FACILITATE PUBLIC EDUCATION AND COMMUNICATIONS PROGRAMS RELATING
TO SPORTSMEN AND WILDLIFE ISSUES.

5. TO PROTECT SPORTSMEN HERITAGE.

6. TO CONDUCT OTHER PROGRAMS OR ACTIVITIES THAT PROMOTE CONCEPTS
CONSISTENT WITH THE NORTH AMERICAN MODEL OF WILDLIFE CONSERVATION.
I. THE LEGISLATURE FINDS THAT ALL OF THE PURPOSES IN SUBSECTION H,
PARAGRAPHS 1 THROUGH 6 OF THIS SECTION COMPLEMENT AND ENHANCE THE
DEPARTMENT'S MANAGEMENT OF WILDLIFE IN THE PUBLIC TRUST UNDER THIS TITLE TO
INCLUDE CURRENT AND FUTURE PROGRAMS IN THE DEPARTMENT'S STRATEGIC PLAN AND
COMPREHENSIVE WILDLIFE CONSERVATION STRATEGY. FOR THE PURPOSES LISTED IN
SUBSECTION H OF THIS SECTION, THE QUALIFIED ORGANIZATION MAY USE THE
PROCEEDS, SOLELY OR IN CONJUNCTION WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS, TO MAKE MATCHING
OR OTHER GRANTS TO THE DEPARTMENT AND TO ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE QUALIFIED
PURSUANT TO SECTION 501?(3) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE AND WHOSE ARTICLES

I seriously doubt that anybody would testify that these specific causes are not worthy, or that they are already being adequately managed by a government agency.

I have read multiple e-mails that raise false concerns or are simply incorrect. Here are some examples:

1. This will affect how auction tags are currently distributed. False. HB2072 specifically avoids the subject of special auction tag and will have no bearing on how those tags are distributed.

2. These tags can be resold. False. These tags can only be transferred under the current rules that regulate tag transfers.

3. These tags will improve the average hunter?s odds of drawing a tag within a very short period of time.

I have read some concerns that are very accurate, such as, ?there are very few groups who could qualify for these tags?. This is very true, the bill is limiting in this regard. But, given the strict controls on how this money is to be spent, what benefit can be derived from splitting the money and further diluting its effectiveness?

I encourage you to read the bill for yourself. I am confident that once you have done that, you will join me in support of this bill.

That most Utah hunters seem to support this garbage is just unbelievable? I have 11 deer points in Utah and can't use them fast enough and get the hell out of their BS game also. Would be nice if it was possible to close Utah hunters out of Arizona to reciprocate for this crap!

ktmrider, I take it then you are from AZ? I hope the AZ legislature & F&G board does not get bought and paid for by Don Peay/SFW. I have paid my dues and waited 16 years for my points to be of value. After SFW showed their cards last month, I can't cash them in fast enough. Wish I could burn my lope points on unit 10 arcehry but will have to wait for next year due to Pauns hunt. Then in 2014 burning elk points on unit 1 archery. If DP rapes AZ before these are cashed, he will have hell to pay.

It's really something to go to the page in the link that Zim put up in the OP and not see AZ shaded on the map or listed as one of the staes that has SFW Chapters. I would bet they did that right after the tag debacle was exposed and dropped.

Oh he'll ya. Two days after the AZ debacle DP posted azsfw has no affiliation with sfw and has not posted since that I know of. He must have crawled back in his hole and called his webmaster.
