As the draw approaches I was wondering if anyone new with the new draw system if either of these tags is within reach with 7 NR points? and if they are which one is the better unit for the late hunts? I have also considered 23 late. Just wondering about quality of animals and numbers. Thanks for any input.

Looking at the bonus point reports from last year only three people with 7 points that put in for unit 9 late didnt draw. Very few NR Drew with 7 points in 23 or 27. I'd guess with the changes to the draw you're going to need even more this year for a guaranteed tag. You will have a better chance to draw in the random draw this year due to the changes though so you could still get lucky.

Thanks for the info, trying to find Arizona draw odds has been a challenge. Are 23 and 27 that much better than 9? Hard to tell how the new draw will work out this year trying to decide if I should put in or wait.

I've never hunted unit 9 so I can't compare but I do know 27 is some very rough country to find the Bulls and about a million other tag holders. Unit 23 would be my first choice. No late hunt will be easy but I'd say 23 would give you the best experience between 23 and 27. The way I see it you'll never be drawn if you wait and it costs the same amount for you to buy a bonus point as it does to put in besides the tag fee. I'd put in every year.

Thanks for the info. Need to make some calls to friends and get some more detailed info on 23. I apply most years but sometimes it's a juggle with other states, seasons, etc, rough doesn't bother me. Juse looking for a good unit with reasonable draw odds and a chance at earning a good bull.
