LAST EDITED ON Jan-17-16 AT 11:44AM (MST)[p]Hello Az.Folks
I have a question for you coues hunters down south of Utah. My son will be graduating high school this spring and I am taking him on a hunt some where, one of the things he would like to do is hunt coues.
Neither one of us have any points for deer in AZ. so it might be just a pipe dream but I'll ask anyway. I'm looking for info on a unit obviously not an upper end unit just a unit to go have fun chasing couse and maybe have a chance at a buck or two.

In return I could supply anyone with info on big game here in Utah.I know local hunting info is not easy to just hand out over the internet but Im willing to give some good info for Utah in return.

Thanks for looking

There are many units with lots of permits for the earlier hunts that provide NRs a shot in the drawing. It will be even better this year with the split in the 10% NR cap between the BP round and the general draw.

How To Hunt Coues Deer

LAST EDITED ON Jan-17-16 AT 02:17PM (MST)[p]If I had the 2014-2015 Arizona deer regulations I could look it up with hunt numbers for each unit, but I can't seem to find them online. I found the 2015-2016 deer regulations but that won't work. If you happen to have the 2014-2015 fall Arizona deer regulations then just go to azgfd.com (Arizona game and fish website) and click the apply to the draw spot on the home page (on left side of home page). On the next page scroll down and click on, bonus point process (It's near the hunt Arizona book area of the page). Then under bonus point process click on the wording, 1st and 2nd Choice Pass of the Draw at the Hunt Number level. If you can find that, then with the hunt numbers in the 2014-2015 fall deer regulations you can look up the draw odds for each Arizona unit by hunt number. This will show you how many points it takes to draw each unit in Arizona.

Most of the October and November coues units are pretty easy to draw for most of the units in southern Arizona.

If you don't want to burn points there are always a ton of leftover tags here in AZ. They are getting more and more popular but I think you could still get two tags out of it.

If it's really important to hunt 2016 I would look at the border units in Oct/Nov and put them as your 1/2 choice. If you don't have points now you won't be losing anything and you won't be chancing anything with leftovers.
