Anyone have suggestions or recommendations for hunting Barbary in Units 32, 34, 36-37?

We have never hunted these and it is my son who drew the tag.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Vini is it just me or does it look like far more BLM is closed on that map than Provate made open? I just don't understand swaps like this.

Hunters have been getting screwed in this part of the state for years and it will continue. In fact right now there is an effort underway to further restrict hunter access by closing a county rd in unit 32. On Thursday night there was a public hearing with the chaves county commissioners and a grand total of 2 hunters showed up to oppose the closing of the county rd. That is absolutely pathetic! If we dont unite and fight for our rights to access public land, they will take it from us piece by piece.

My 14yr old Son is trying for Barbary with a State Wide tag. We have probably one good week in June and maybe 2 weekends before July 15th to get it done this year and as a Non-Resident its a lot of clams even for a Youth Hunt.

Hoping we can scoot in on some somewhere and are pretty prepared to go long and deep on a hot mountain to do it. That's how our DIY Public Land hunts usually go once we are on clue.

I am also looking for recommendations for these 4 units and I drew a tag for February of 2019. Any recommended areas or tips would be helpful. This would be my first time hunting in this part of the state.
Thank you!

Did get out of the truck and did learn a lot. However, my son did not get a Barbary.

By the way, thanks Barbarosa for responding to a post from last year, lol.

Big Daddy, did your son score? I notice the OTC section in Unit 34 is between West Side Road (USFS Road 90) and, basically, Alamogordo. I haven't seen any yet in that ribbon of tortured, vertical canyonland, but I would sure want help getting one out of the cactus and Spanish daggers in there.

No he didn't and yes it is gnarly back in there. The sheep are out there. The problem is being in the right place at the right time. lol
