Like to see how much you guys are getting.Hank down in the Gila.Paul in 34.Chris in that 2b country?

Got about an 1" here in Santa fe.Looks like 45 and 6 getting some good rain.Bring on the monsoons,But not to crazy.

We have had a good season in the sense that every time it has started to dry out, we have gotten a little rain to keep the grass going. As a unit we have not been dumped on with running water everywhere filling all tanks, but, there have been some heavy thunderstorms here and there. Still a lot of rainy season left though.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-14-17 AT 07:23AM (MST)[p]Hit & miss so far here at home. Nothing to get the gramma really going.
I am a recorder for CoCoRahs. NM-CT-15
Community Collaborative Rain Hail Snow .

>Monsoon season runs into September, right?
>
Oct if we're real lucky...usually Aug.& Sept are highest precip. months in NM.

Well added up rain for July and we got 3.3" at my place, fire danger is low and antler growth looks to be good. Will post some pics soon.
Jack

Socorro got 4" in July and some remote watering tanks I visit have filled back up in the Magdalenas and San Mateos. Should be a good year for 17 and 13.

Miguel, been getting a bunch down there. I'll give a report Sunday after I get back from taking camp .

0.8 inches of rain in central NM in all of June and July added together. Very dry. Not good for the antelope in area.

Some places in the SW NM/Gila area have gotten lots of rain so far. The surrounding area is still a bit patchy green in places, with others greener than they have been in years.
I got a couple inches in July. Some here got 4" in a couple hrs, more than once.
Several roads have washed out in Catron & Grants county....2 more months of monsoon to come. Bring it on we say.

I have heard the wolf problem has gotten way worse.I have seen more than ever. Folks that live here losing cattle weekly. Several folks say Elk have moved out of 16a,with no calves left in the herds that are there. One guy said he saw no elk on the BarT in the last couple weeks. He has a portable lumber mill in the area, lived here his whole life.
With the deer herds decimated, the elk & cattle are the target now.
NM G&F had better figure out a plan or we will lose our large Gila elk herds.

It is the FEDERAL Govt who has released these wolves. The NMDGF is trying to work with them but what MOST NM residents don't understand is the Feds DO NOT HAVE TO ASK for permission to release wolves. The NMDGF is well aware of the problems wolves create but also understand there is a balance in working with the Federal Government. Its a tuff crappy deal , I feel for those ranchers who are losing out on revenue to their lifestyle and family well being, and all the horror stories of elk wipeouts in Idaho and Yellowstone , well hell yes its scary! Unfortunately the wolf recovery program has grabbed traction and its now a fight in the making.

I get it, Rio. It takes the Feds to hose up a good thing this badly. But then, we're the ones the voted them into office, so I guess we're just as much to blame. At least the moonbats among us won't have to worry about hitting a deer with their Prius.
