I put on a ton of miles on this hunt. Seen a ton of deer and some great bucks and my stalk finally came together on this old stud. Couldn't be happier.

I've wondered what it's like stalking those bucks in open country--I hear that many times people just chase deer all over with few good shots. Do deer have to be in a certain stalkable location usually to get close to them? I've wondered what the keys to success are. I was thinking maybe they easier to stalk when bedded and then you can crawl? Also, maybe easier in smaller herds of deer.
I've also noticed that almost no one does the late archery elk hunt. And the success rate is nothing. Are elk even harder to stalk late season?
