Going to see a buddy in unit 8 this year during deer season. How is the public land around there ? Figured I might as well go hunt a few days as long as I'm there. He just moved from Wyoming so doesn't know the area yet. And now I lost all my Wy info lol. Thanks. He lives in Moscow

Public land in unit 8 is minimal, almost non existent.
8A certainly has more forest service land to hunt on and whitetails are spread throughout.
There is plenty of private timber company property in both units. The two most prominent companies are Bennett Lumber and Potlatch. I believe both require access permission now. Don't think Bennett has a fee yet (somebody correct me if i'm wrong), but Potlatch does. I believe they call it the "recreation" permit, or something like that.
