I really would love to talk to anyone who has experience with the high country buck hunt in the Pasayten Wilderness area? I've hunted it a couple times with no success and a TON of hard work. Please share experiences, strategies etc. Thank you!

no experience here, but go to hunting Washington.com and log onto the forums there, I bet you will get some help.

I have hunted the Pasayten high hunt about a half dozen times. Never sucsessfull but close a few times. I always went in on the east end at Iron Gate trailhead. Huntin is hard in there but if your willin to work and are lucky its possible. Havent been since the fires, im sure it changed things. Always had a lot of fun in there and ate alot of grouse. Beautiful country. The deer seem to be in pockets here & there and if you dont know them you wont see any.

I have some very fond memories of hunting horseshoe basin and Arnold Pk and east along the head waters of Long Draw. It has always been very good to me. I have not been in there in a while, when I sent the horses down the road and got out of packing, I have not been back. I have come across Grizzly tracks in the swampy area 1/2m east of Smith Lk. When I go in there I take the 300 Wby with 200gr Nosler PT's.

I have a friend that hunts it almost every year, they only hike in a few miles. Out of the 3 of them they almost always come out with at least 2 bucks. A few have been very nice bucks. They hunt some pretty tough ground, I think the major trails get a lot of pressure but if you find those out of the way pockets you should do fine.
