Does anyone know how of any success stories for this year?
Should be able to draw in the next 2 years, trying to keep tabs on the area.
On another note, is next year the year the outfitters get the non-Resident tags?

Thanks
Bill

I drew this year as a non-resident with 17 points. I have hunted antelope 3 times in Wyoming and it was nothing like that, tough hunt. I got a decent buck, not huge. I probably should have held out for the bigger one I had just seen but after days of hunting hard and not having a shot opportunity at a single buck it was hard to pass anything up.

Sorry to hear that.
I am a non-resident sitting on 18 points this year.
It is amazing how long it takes us to draw these tags.
Did you see a lot of antelope and a no good bucks or very few antelope? It is a large area, did you get to cover most of it or did you work a general area?

Thanks
Bill

Big Burn on the eastern side a couple years ago. Feral Horses destroy the good water areas. I have spent a lot of days in the Juniper unit over the years. When you draw Check the highest country in the central part of unit. Use your topo and get to the highest point. The Best Bucks will be on top. Find the Bedding Nest on the high ridges. Go Early and glass 4-5 days before opening day. Kill coyote while you scout.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------support your local guzzlers. I would rather have Steens or Whitehorse than Juniper. you should draw either with 18 points.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-11-14 AT 07:12PM (MST)[p]East or west Beatys butte will hold a lot more antelope, spend time in all the units a lot and Juniper would NOT be my first choice by a long shot

I, had the whitehorse tag this year and wouldnt send anyone there. hunted hard and some days you wouldnt even see a antelope. Its not like it was a few years back ,there hurting bad. I think they should even stop the hunt in this unit for a few years .

I was hunting chuckar in Whitehorse a few weeks ago and saw several goats over 80".

Steens tends to produce the biggest goats but it can be slim pickings if they hang on the private .

Well, I have the points so I just need to use them before they become useless like in some other states. Who knows now a days what the NR future of hunting will be. East Beaty is my other option, guess I need to make a road trip this spring to help me decide.

Thanks
Bill

Not much difference between them. but some years BB gets goats off Hart Mt.

I wouldn't worry about hunting in OR changing for the NR very much. we couldn't possibly screw you worse than we already do.

WOW! I guess the Antelope dont lose there horns in the Whitehorse. 80" bucks all over in late Nov, IM IN!!

I was down there a few weeks ago but it was an earlier trip I saw them obviously.

Sorry I made such an unforgivable mistake. but you're sure awesome and over the top brilliant to catch it.

I saw antelope every day but not many, and they were extremely spooky. If they saw the first sign of a hunter they were changing zip codes. I covered the unit pretty well and most of it held nothing at all so I would end up back in the few areas that held goats. Most water holes on public ground were completely surrounded by hunters. It was a fun hunt and I would love to do it again but it was tough.

I never said your mistake was unforgivable but if you read your post and know Antelope you will scratch your head a bit. kinda funny, no big deal! Happy new year!!!

Don't! I had N.Wagontire in '13. I only saw 9 legal bucks in 7 solid days of hunting. I settled for an average one on day 7.

It's all about water. Find the water, and ANY Oregon antelope unit will have goats 75" plus. However, you won't normally see a LOT of antelope.

If you're expecting Wyoming....that's not what you will get. We have fewer antelope by a huge factor.

The unit I hunted this year had goats coming into water nonstop. So far, we have almost NO precipitation in the desert, so 2015 will be more of the same; maybe worse.
