My son shot a cow in the Imnaha unit that had the hoof disease. Has anyone else seen it? I stopped by the ODFW office in Enterprise and they took the affected hoof.

Haven't seen or heard of it around here. are you sure it's a disease and not just an individual problem ?

I am seen it twice in Summit County, Utah. Had the G&F Bioligist look at the 1st one. They did do several tests and determined it was safe to eat. Never did get an official explanation on cause. 2nd one we didn't even bother to make a call. Everyone is still breathing 10 years later.

This is the 4th one confirmed in Wallowa county since 2014. They have reports of a herd of 9 elk in the Snake river unit that 5 of them are limping. He said it will be sent in for testing but was sure it was the hoof disease. And also that the meat is fine to consume.

Here is a link to the ODFW page about it, there is a map down a page or so that shows where it has been found.
